Well, its the 9th and we've signed Kromkamp and Anderson so far.  Is anyone panicking yet that we won't sign anyone else before the window closes?  I'm not panicking yet, I've scheduled it in for this time next week.  I don't expect Parry to take any chances with his timing...but you never know!

True, but we definitely need a CB, and we could really do with a RM too.

22 days left, not even half of the month and we're talking about panicking?

Its very premature to be sweating like a turkey on christmas eve just yet as it is only the 9th. I think we can be sure that after last summer Rick Parry and Rafa will be working hard behind the scenes to get the players that are needed for squad strengthening.

"Simao Sabrosa has played down talk that has suggested he has played his last game for Benfica.

The talented 26-year-old was a strong target for Liverpool in the summer but the European champions failed to concur on a fee with their Portuguese counterparts.

A figure in the region of £10.2 million has been mooted to have been rejected by Benfica, but it has been suggested that the player could attract further bids in the winter transfer window.

Manchester United have also reportedly entered the race to land the wide man but for the moment, Simao is not getting carried away with any such suggestion.

Simao played at the weekend against Pacos, in a 2-0 win, but whether this was his last game in his homeland remains very much a matter of speculation rather than fact.

''Is this my last game with Benfica? I don't see why,'' said Simao.

''I am a professional and I have a contract until June 2010. Everyone is aware of the situation but it's Benfica that have to decide.

''For the time being there is nothing. ''

I think if we do sign him it will be in the summer. I can't see Benfica selling him while they are still in the CL. I for one think we should try and get Joaquin from Real Betis. Benfica have already messed us about last summer when they were holding out for more cash. And Simao himself doesn't seem that interested at the moment. I know Joaquin is supposed to be valued at about double Simao but as Betis are out of the CL they may be prepared to sell him on and get some cash in ready for the summer transfer window.

I think he meant to say. "I don't see why you're asking that question because by next week I will sign for the champions of europe." :D

My dad was saying yesterday that Bronby have denied that Agger has agreed personal terms with LFC and that their are a number of teams interested in him (obviously to bump the price), it said this in the Daily Post.  ???

Florent Sinama-Pongolle does not want to leave Liverpool but insists that he needs to feel wanted by Reds manager Rafa Benitez.

The Frenchman's future on Merseyside has been the topic of considerable speculation with a host of Ligue 1 sides keen on prising the former Le Havre player away from Anfield on a season-long loan.

Real Betis are also long-term admirers of Sinama-Pongolle but, having come off the bench to help Liverpool complete an FA Cup turnaround at Luton on Saturday, the 21-year-old sees his future at Liverpool.

"I am still a young player and hope a game like Saturday can prove a turning point for me," said Sinama-Pongolle.

"Things can change quickly for me.

"At this moment I am still confident I will be at Liverpool beyond January."

However, Benitez's failure to clarify the player's future has left Sinama-Pongolle with no option but to consider other options.

"I love Liverpool and I love the supporters. I need to speak to the manager but if he tells me he needs me and wants me to stay, I will do," he added.

I like the lad he is young and he has a good eye for goal. But i find it interesting that Real Betis are "long term admirers" of him

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed his interest in Deportivo La Coruna duo Fabricio Coloccini and Cesar.

Benitez is keen to bolster his squad during this month's transfer window and has not hidden his desire to bring in a new central defender.

A number of players have been linked with Liverpool including Brondby's Daniel Agger and Benitez has now revealed Coloccini and Cesar are on his list of targets.

Benitez is looking to add options to his defence and provide cover for Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia and is considering moves for Coloccini and Cesar.

"We need to fortify the centre of the defence and we are considering four or five options," Benitez told La voz de Galicia.

"We had ideas in the summer and we are thinking now in the same way.

"We have targeted Coloccini and Cesar of Deportivo La Coruna and we are just about to obtain if they want to sell."

Coloccini is thought to be keen on a move away from Deportivo having fallen out with coach Joaquin Caparros.

Liverpool could also face competition for Cesar with Bolton believed to be keen on signing the defender.

"Liverpool have released Costa Rican midfielder Cristian Bolanos from his trial spell at Melwood.
Bolanos impressed manager Rafa Benitez during last month's World Club Championships in Japan, where he played for Deportivo Saprissa in their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The 21 year old spent last week on Merseyside in a bid to secure a move to Liverpool, but he has now returned home after the Reds decided against taking their interest any further.

"He did well in his time at the club but we decided he was not exactly the type of player we were looking for at the moment," said a Liverpool spokesman.

Liverpool are believed to have turned their attentions to Italian international Aimo Diana as they search for a new midfielder.

Reports emanating from Italy claim Liverpool have made an offer for the Sampdoria star.

Liverpool are in the market for a right-sided midfielder with Rafa Benitez scouring the transfer market since last summer for a player to fill the problematic position.

It seems likely that Liverpool are set to miss out on top target Simao Sabrosa with Benfica keen to keep the Portuguese international.

The European champions are now thought to be considering a move to lure Diana to Anfield.

The 28-year-old is highly rated at Sampdoria and is in the running to make the Italy squad for this summer's World Cup finals.

Another option for Liverpool could be Sevilla's Daniel Alves.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Alves and tried to sign him in the summer, but without success.

The Reds could make a new move for Alves this month, but they could face fierce competition from Barcelona with the Camp Nou titans believed to have first refusal on the player.

Meanwhile, one player who seems set to be on his way to Anfield is MK Dons youngster David Martin.

Martin enjoyed a trial at Liverpool at the end of last year and he is believed to have impressed the coaching staff at Anfield.

Liverpool have now decided to offer Martin a deal and he is expected to sign a contract in the near future.

Anyone know about him? i must admit on the few occassions i have seen Simao play he hasn't really done much bar scoring a free kick against Man ushited. Apart from that i thought his pace wasn't great he didn't seem to be able to go round players and his passing wasn't great either. Maybe this bloke is a better bet.
