Here we go!!!!

RAFA REVEALS DEPOR INTEREST

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed his interest in Deportivo La Coruna duo Fabricio Coloccini and Cesar.

Benitez is keen to bolster his squad during this month's transfer window and has not hidden his desire to bring in a new central defender.

A number of players have been linked with Liverpool including Brondby's Daniel Agger and Benitez has now revealed Coloccini and Cesar are on his list of targets.

Benitez is looking to add options to his defence and provide cover for Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia and is considering moves for Coloccini and Cesar.

"We need to fortify the centre of the defence and we are considering four or five options," Benitez told La voz de Galicia.

"We had ideas in the summer and we are thinking now in the same way.

"We have targeted Coloccini and Cesar of Deportivo La Coruna and we are just about to obtain if they want to sell."

Coloccini is thought to be keen on a move away from Deportivo having fallen out with coach Joaquin Caparros.

Liverpool could also face competition for Cesar with Bolton believed to be keen on signing the defender.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have released Costan Rican midfielder Cristian Bolanos after a short trial spell at the club.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

cggy, cesar is quality. ive seen him on sky a few times and would certainly do well at anfield.

on the bolton issue, im not sure if cesar would be cup tied. But i do feel we have more pulling power than bolton.

Rafa's dealings are like his talking, he does most when he needs. I feel sure, as you do, that rafa will do his best to get the right player at the right price. but you knew that anyway

Coloccini looks like a clown and from what I have seen, very little really, he is a bit erratic. I'd have reservations about signing him. Cesar is by far the better option of the two.

I saw them played last season, they are just average players maybe same par with Ramos Sergio (Real Madshit) and Robert Huth (Cheshit).

But if Rafa wants to take both, how much does they cost??

Seems like everyone is pushing the panic button, but understandlby so because of what happened in the summer.

There's nothing we can do except wait and worry our asses off but I would be just a bit more patient.

Actually Carra was playing with an injury and Hyypia played while he was ill.

I can't believe what I am reading about César. You say he's quality? You must be joking. He moves very, very slowly and it is quite simple to get past him. Deportivo wants to get rid of him. This season he has not played at all.
I hope he does not come because his game reminds me very much of Pellegrino. Good in the air and useless on the ground.
Coloccini may have the aspect of a clown, but he is a better player.

Carra still recieves injections in his foot, this is also a worry and urgent backup is needed a.s.a.p.
If we dont buy a CH I can see Stevie playing there if either get injured :kungfu:

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Cesar, is definetly not the quickest, and I assume that the main centre half we buy (as we could buy two!) is coming to mainly cover for Sami, if not replace him, and I feel it is key we get some with a bit of pace (I know its not essential, but...)  it will complement Carraghers game neatly.

As for Coloccini, I personally would go for him over Cesar, anyday, I have seen him play badly, as you do with all players but the majority of times he is fine.
He is a good header of the ball, quick as opposed to fast and has great positional sense, which for me is absolutely key in a centre back.

Benitez usually mentions targets unless he wants to sign them or is going to sign them.
