Gonzalez - Can someone clarify the situation?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

There've been a dozen different interpretations of when Gonzalez will be eligible to play for us, what it's dependent upon, etc, etc.

As far as I'm aware, his work permit was refused as Chile were outside the world's top 70. Now Chile are ranked 64.

There's also the matter of his passport - he's becoming a Spanish national at some point, but exactly when is this due to happen?

Do we have any concrete word on what the score is with him and us?

No not really Ivor, I have heard that he will be able to join us next month but not able to play till next season. All very confusing at the moment.

I read a few weeks back in a paper that Gonzalez said " I am definately signing for Liverpool in January, and I cannot wait to team up with my new team-mates"

Read into that what you will.

Unless he has played in Europe, I cannot see any reason why he won't be able to play straight away. although he was out with a long term injury,.

If Chile are ranked 64, he will have no problem getting a visa.

He'll probably only be allowed to play for the 1st Team next season I guess he will train with us but because he's contract with Albacte won't run out till the end of the season.

He is apparently getting married soon to a European National which will enable him to get a European passport this will then qualify him to play for us.

Hiopefully we should have him at the club by early january !!

According to the DEP (Department for Employment and Pensions) when we applied for a permit in the Summer, they will not review the situation until next Summer.

They are a bunch of c*nts.
