I couldn't find the old Simao thread, so I'm posting it here.

Benfica were asking for too much imo, 12 million is a bit pushing it considering that they originaly wanted 8 million. This could save us money, and imo it's now even more possible that we'll sign Dario Srna instead. He's cheaper, 8 million pounds cheaper to be exact. Srna is also younger and he can defend as well as he can attack. He's the type of player Rafa is looking for imo.

I have only watched him against the mancs when he scored against them in the CL, and I must admit I think the club tried to panic buy on the eve of the transfer window closing.
But he wants out and he wants to come to Liverpool, but his price has gone higher since they qualified for the CL and play us in the knock out stages which he would not play in anyway even if he signed for us.

I have to be honest I do not know anything about him, but I know one thing Rafa wont pay mega bucks for him.
We will be fine we will get 2 right sided midfielders in January one young the other with loads of experience.
The problem is now, we are playing with so much confidence and the team have really got it going on.

I am a bit wary of these new additions if you get me drift.

Agree with cggy. We obviously need someone but we are nowhere near as desperate now we are playing well. Take your time Rafa ..sit down -have a hamlet :nod

Simao was never Rafa's first choice in the first place.

We tried to sign Figo,Stelios,Solano before we made contact with Benfica for Simao.

I'm glad this deal is off, I didn't think Simao would have improved our team too much to be honest.

I don't know much about Srna, but he sound's good judging by A.B.

Messi isn't a fecking winger, so what would the point of that be? He's one of the fan favorites at Barca, they won't let him go anytime soon.

I don't know much about Srna, but he sound's good judging by A.B.

Skillful[probably not as much as Simao and Joaquin] but a hardworking player as well. For the Croatia national team, he's played as a RB when needed for the team. Type of player Benitez would look at it and try to sign.

think we have more chance on loaning Rooney mate, on the Simao deal, says in todays Echo deals still on, Koeman says there is no way they have the financal power to keep him and that it still looks like Simao will go in January
