ledley king is a quality player, imagine him and carra at the back?

not worth 17m? dont be daft corse he is.  hmmmm rio ferdinand or ledley king?

right mid and CB we need TWO huigh class players, enough of this 'potential' malarky we need to be proven quality

here's the article:

KING HAPPY OVER NEW SPURS DEAL
Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King would be happy to pledge his long-term future to the club, with things 'going in the right direction'.

The England defender headed his side into the lead during Saturday’s north London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane, and again drew much praise for his solid display.

King, 24, is contracted to Spurs until 2008 - a deal which he agreed only last summer.

However, after a string of impressive displays for both club and country - including as a holding midfielder for England in the crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland at the start of October - the Spurs skipper looks set for a lucrative new offer.

His advisors are currently in negotiations over improved terms, and King is happy to let those discussions continue while he maintains his focus on keeping up the standards which have helped lift Martin Jol’s men up to third in the Barclays Premiership.

“It’s between my agent and the club. I am just letting them get on with it and concentrating on my football,” he said.

“I’ve always said that if we are going in the right direction, I haven’t got a problem.”

King added in the London Evening Standard: “The lads have given us an indication of what we are capable of.

“We have a young squad and we have to keep going.

“The Champions League would be a bonus - you take it one game at a time and see where we can get.”

17mil to much IMO, however, he is consistant and would be a good purchase for us for about 12mil if we could prise him away from Tottenham.

If we were unwilling to pay more than 12M for Simao how will we pay 17M for King ?

As has already been said - we will not pay £17m for a player in the final year of his contract.
Rafa and his scouts could get a better CB for that sort of money anyway.
