Benitez as a manager is vastly more suited to the more tactical and patient c/l encounter when i'd go as far to say he's genius as was proven last season.
In contrast all this raffa is god shi.te is making me ill....So far he has failed to grasp the passion of our league or the fact that being Liverpool is not enough to beat so called inferior sides.
To be liverpool and play like liverpool we need to think like liverpool from the top down and back up again......not like some new tried and tested failsafe plan that worked in spain.
welcome to england raffa and the best league in the world

PROVE YOURSELF
Prove myself? Stop with the childish nonsense.
We weren't 'good' in the CL until we got past Olympiakos. The players mentality is the main problem not the players not being able to understand Benitez's tactics.
I am not just talking about Europe. Last season we played against Arsenal at home, we outplayed them and won. How do you think we managed to do that? It would be impossible to do that if the players didn't understand Rafa's tactics.
We played 4-5-1, a weak side as far as attacking is concerned, with Mellor up front. We outplayed them, we gave them no time on the ball, we pressured them. How do you think we did that? It's simple, the players understood the tactics.
We did it against Chelsea at Anfield in the League as well. We were all over them, they had two shots on goal and one of them was the winner. Did they deserve to win that game? No, we had most of the possession, most of the chances. The only thing that stood in our way was Mike Riley.
The point is that the players are capable of performing, it's all about mentality, a bit more than ability at certain times. They've perfomed before but the key is to do it consistantly. In order to accomplish that the team, the players have to have a good mentality something that Benitez has been reitarating since he's arrived.
Look at Everton, last season half of the Premiership had a better side than them on paper. But that didn't stop them from finishing in the top four. Why? They had the team mentality. Call it a "one off" if you want but they were able to keep a good mentality for most of the Premiership campaign.![]()
I meant raffa needs to prove himself ya plum
not you
john craig wrote:Absolutely must win this game, no question.trying to pick a team that will succeed against west ham's tactics, just put out our strongest side and turn them over. No Djimi 'the fu.cking liability' Traore, no Luis 'so out of form it's not true' Garcia and no Morientes for this one.
Reina
Finnan Carra Hyypia Warnock
Gerrard Sissoko Alonso Kewell
Crouch Cisse
Sissoko has to play central, Gerrard has to play wide because there's no one else versatile enough to play there and surprisingly Kewell has actually looked one of our better players recently. Crouch and Cisse have barely played together, give them a chance.
I'm not going to over-analyze this one. Screw formations, screw tactics, the only thing that's going to win this one for us is a bit of fight and passion, something that hasn't been shown nearly enough recently and something that the team OWE us right now.

This is a s.hit or bust game with the world watching. Who'd have thought we'd have been saying that about West Ham on that night in Istanbul.
No room for players out of position in this game. Play people where they should, light a fire under their a.rses in the dresing room and tell them, if they win, the team stays that way until they lose.
Starting eleven
Reina
Finnan JC Sami Riise
Garcia Gerard Alonso Kewell
Cisse Morientes
I don't give a toss what team West Ham pick, and niether should Rafa. Balls to their tactics, we are LFC and we should be have as such.
Pretend we're three nil down at the start of the game, and go for them with a high tempo and attach, attack, attack, and let's show the doubters what we are about.
Come on!!!!
