Leeds youngster Simon Walton is again being linked with a move to Liverpool.

The 18-year old midfielder was the subject of interest from the Reds during the transfer window and it's understood that the Reds are still keen on bringing the youngster in January.

Walton started 25 games for Leeds last season but is yet to feature this campaign due to injury and form.

Kevin Blackwell recently said:" Simon had a wonderful season last season and exceeded all our expectations, but he's had a few injuries this time and is currently trying to get himself fit."

----------------------------------------------------------

The agent that represents Turkish wonderkid Nuri Sahin claims that Liverpool have registered an interest in the player.

Chelsea have been chasing the 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder for some time but Arsenal, Manchester United and ourselves are also monitoring his progress very carefully.

Agent Kazim Avci said: "Nuri's dream is to play in England and Chelsea are one of the big teams in that country. But Arsenal and Liverpool are also very intrested in him. But I don't think Dortmund will sell him at the moment.

"His value has gone up a lot since Arsenal's bid was turned down and Dortmund I think will ask for up to £14m in a year's time."

Sahin has just returned home from the World Championships in Peru where Liverpool scouts watched him in action. He had a great tournament and helped Turkey to fourth place with a string of impressive performances.

He became the youngest Bundesliga player of all-time back in August aged 16 years, 335 days and last night he became the youngest Turkish player ever to earn an international cap when he was brought on in the last five minutes as a sub against Germany. He went on to score and Turkey came out 2-0 winners.

Despite all the speculation surrounding the youngster, Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's managing director, insists that he hasn't been informed of any fresh interest.

He said: "So far we haven't received an offer yet. He is our future and will soon take the Bundesliga in storm, we don't really plan to sell him."

Arsenal had a bid of £2.5million rejected in the summer and Borussia Dortmund have been tipped to hold out for £10m > £14m which will almost certainly rule Liverpool out if his valuation continues to rise.

Chelsea have also declared their interest publicly but are yet to make an offer.

its a weird state of affairs but i'm currently more excited about the development of the youth team/reserves than the first team. it looks like there's some great young talent out there that we have either already got (idrizaj, barragan, hobbs) aswell as being linked to potential such as these two. maybe we should save all our money this year and 'do a man utd' next season - bring on all these talented kids and win everything. :D

I have seen glimpses of Walton play on telly and from what I have heard, he's meant to be a decent prospect. Can play either at midfield or centre half.

There is a lot of hype about the young Turkish fella.

Also, according to todays Times (The Game supplement page 27) we are about to sign 16 year old James Tunnicliffe from Stockport County for £150,000 (rising to £750,000 depending on appearances). He is a 6ft 4in Centre Back.

Liverpool have offered a one-week trial to Stockport youngster James Tunnicliffe with a view to a permanent deal.

The 16-year-old central defender has been monitored by the Reds for some time and the trial period next week gives the Liverpool hierarchy the chance to look at him in closer detail.

If they are impressed and Tunnicliffe is comfortable in his new surroundings then a deal has been struck comparable to that which saw Lincoln's Jack Hobbs move to Anfield on his 17th birthday last August, which could eventually net the Imps as much as £750,000.

"If the boy does well over at Liverpool then it is an opportunity with the European champions that doesn't come along too often in life and it's a chance for him," said Hatters boss Chris Turner.

"He is an exceptional talent and a boy that would be in our first team by the end of the season I am sure.

"There isn't going to be too many times when the European champions are going to be coming for one of your players and it is an opportunity that we couldn't really turn down."

yeah I'm very excited about Tunnicliffe, but I must admit, I've never heard about the turk before.  And is he really so good that people are going to pay well over the odds for him?
