Lua lua: a possible answer to the right wing probl

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby solo si » Mon Sep 12, 2005 2:22 am

I've been quite surprised that not many Premiership clubs have not gone after Lua Lua of Portsmouth. Every time I watch him play he causes all sorts of problems to the opposition. He has pace, lot's of skill and can score goals and cross a decent ball into the box. Looking At Garcia at the moment I think a bid for Lua Lua in the summer transfer window would be now giving LFC more options, unlike Garcia or Cisse. I know Lua Lua plays as a striker but he picks the ball up in deep and wide positions aswell. I think he would have jumped at the chance to play for the Reds and would have cost us probably no more that a few million. What do you guys think?

He has pace, he can score goals but he's no right winger. He's a forward and in my opinion playing him on the wing would be equal to playing Cisse on the flank.

spot on ! ..... I think the good and the cheaper right winger in the one at the lower clubs. I like Gera from WB ... hardworking player ... play simple football ..... NOT like garcia .... sometimes the way he play like a clown.

I disagree.

Lua Lua is a 'Natural footballer'. By that I mean he isnt an Acadamy prouct. He is a natural player and more of a footballer than a forward. His ability on the ball is far more superior than Cisse's. He has tricks and has the ability to get past players. He will do a better job on the right flank than Cisse - no doubt about that.

Weather or not he is the right option for you is another question. Im not sure if he can perform on the big stage. I really dont understand why Rafa hasent signed a few raw talents. Simao or Joaquin would be good signings. But if he wants to stay with the 'Signing players like Zenden and Crouch' theme then Lua Lua or even Jermaine Pennant will fit the bill.

Do people not understand a concept as simple as the freakin transfer window ?

We WILL NOT sign any contracted player until January. If we do I will streak at the Champions League game against Chelsea.

Leon,

We are all well aware of the deadline for the transfer window. My point was to high light why no one had bought Lua Lua. Again, I think he would have been a great buy for us, especially, as we are not really scoring many league goals at the moment, and also the right wing dileamma. Joaquin would be fantastic, but how much money are talking about? I bet we wouldn't see much change from £15m. Lua Lua has Premiership experience and when we next play Portsmouth we can all see how good he is!

That's all we need - another player playing out of position.

I agree with you, Solo. Every time I've watched Portsmouth play (which hasn't been more than a handful of times, to be fair), I've always came off impressed by Lua Lua. The guy seems quality. Quick, bags of skills, and can put in a decent pass. I was watching him play once, and he nutmegged (I think that's what the English call it. Canio, Tunnel. Whatever.) this defender...and I can honestly say it was the best one I've seen. Or up there.) Anyway, I think he could possibly do a good job on the right wing. Don't know how much he would cost, though. Don't imagine incredibly cheap.

Thank you mr Benitez for buying this goal scoring midfielder, whose goals won us the CL for a 5th time.

And thank you especially for irritating these whoppers who think they got it covered because they won the league in CM05.
