Cisse unhappy at reds treatment - Bbc sport

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

BBC Sport:

Djibril Cisse says he is hurt that Liverpool considered selling him before the transfer window closed last month. The £14m France striker claims Liverpool had talks with Newcastle and Marseille about a possible move.

"I heard Liverpool were in talks with other clubs behind my back - and that hurts," he told the News of the World. Cisse, 24, also believes his World Cup chances could suffer if manager Rafael Benitez continues to play him out of position on the right.

"Everyone knows that being on the right is not where I want to play," said Cisse, who scored twice in France's 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Faroe Islands on Saturday.

"It's not my best position but the manager puts me there. I'm prepared to do it for the good of the club but it's difficult.

"It's a World Cup year and I need to win a place in the French side. At the moment that dream is under threat.

"I'm not like Michael Owen at Newcastle - I'm not guaranteed my place. I've spoken to my international manager and he told me I need to play as much as possible.

"He said I should go where I want as long as I am playing regularly.

"I ask myself, can I be happy only playing every other game? I can't help but wonder about the club's attitude towards me, but I'm prepared to put my head down and keep battling."

---------------------------------------------------

I think his attitude is great but its starting to make me wonder whether Rafa really is not a fan of Cisse. At the beginning of the season I was quite surprised to see Morientes start over Cisse and with Crouch coming back will Rafa opt for Cisse on the bench??

Its no secret that Rafa inherited Cisse, but I would be gutted if we saw someone of Cisse's potential slip through the net. Rafa hasn't made any massive mistakes yet and I hope selling Cisse won't be his first

We seem to be getting alot of players complaining about LFC attitude towards them lately,i like Cisse and his love for the club,i hope he does really well this season and proves to LFC that it would have been a big mistake to sell him.

he should spend less time on his hair and his parrots and more time on his finishing. when he is consistent and we still want to sell him then he can complain

I agree somewhat, but recently he has been scoring.

But if he isn't starting how he prove he can be consistent? ???

I agree with Cisse, the lad broke his leg and showed great attitude to get back to fitness, everytime he plays the side looks so much better, he has also been played out wide and for some reason Rafa plays Nando instead who doesn't make an impact on his own.  So you can understand his frustration. :(

Actually one of the first things Rafa said about him when talking about the current state oif the squad was: "inmy personal view he is awesome". I dont thing someone of Rafas calibre would maike such a bold statement for no reason.

I've said before in different threads that I have a lot of admiration for Cisse's level of commitment, just compare his attitute towards recovering quickly from injury to that of a cirtain Mr Kewell and you'll know what I mean. It's because of this I feel a good deal of sympathy with our Djibril, he's been pretty shoddily treated over the last couple of weeks. I would like to see Rafa inject a little renewed confidence in the lad by giving him a run in the team in his REAL position of centre forward instead of Rafa's insistance of persevering with Nando (I'm faster than him and I'm built like John Hartson!!) in the central role. Obviously I can't be sure but at the back of my mind I have a feeling if we give this guy a chance it could really pay off, he looks hungry and he looks like he really believes wearing that red shirt means something. I really hope Rafa doesn't take that belief away!

From Daily Post:

DJIBRIL CISSE has handed Liverpool an injury scare - after revealing his hurt at discovering he could have been sold by the club last week.

The 24-year-old continued his goalscoring form by scoring twice in France's 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Saturday.

But Cisse later suffered an injury to his left ankle and was withdrawn in the second half, and is considered doubtful for his country's crucial World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will be hopeful Cisse is available for Saturday's Premiership visit to Tottenham Hotspur, who ironically had an £8million bid for the striker turned down last week.

Cisse, meanwhile, has told of his dismay at being told Liverpool were considering selling him before the closure of the transfer window last Wednesday.

"I heard Liverpool were in talks with other clubs behind my back Ð and that hurts," he said.

And the striker believes his World Cup chances could suffer if Benitez continues to play him out of position on the right.

"Everyone knows that being on the right is not where I want to play," he added.

"It's not my best position but the manager puts me there.

"I'm prepared to do it for the good of the club but it's difficult.

"It's a World Cup year and I need to win a place in the French side. At the moment that dream is under threat.

"I'm not like Michael Owen at Newcastle - I'm not guaranteed my place.

"I ask myself, can I be happy only playing every other game? I can't help but wonder about the club's attitude towards me, but I'm prepared to put my head down and keep battling."

we shall see how many goals he can score as against Spurs.?

Now there is no more excuse.. no right wing and so on. We have to march with what we have. If he cant score, no point talking about the same issue. It will be the same throughout the year until January  window opens.

Ciise or for the fact Morientes or Crouch or Garcia or Pongole has no excuse. Their job is to score. So if they dont even if they play regularly... I am not quit sure whether they can play for their country.

???

i am not sure of that...but i read somewhere that after rafa got crouch in jul, he mentioned that crouch & morientes were his 1st choice strike partners... (this even when baros was here).

Didn't think much of that then.........

I am concerned by Bentitez's management of Cisse. If all these comments are true then this is an appaling way to treat someone who clearly loves our club and gives 110% every time he pulls on the red of Liverpool!!
