From Daily Post:
DJIBRIL CISSE has handed Liverpool an injury scare - after revealing his hurt at discovering he could have been sold by the club last week.
The 24-year-old continued his goalscoring form by scoring twice in France's 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Saturday.
But Cisse later suffered an injury to his left ankle and was withdrawn in the second half, and is considered doubtful for his country's crucial World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will be hopeful Cisse is available for Saturday's Premiership visit to Tottenham Hotspur, who ironically had an £8million bid for the striker turned down last week.
Cisse, meanwhile, has told of his dismay at being told Liverpool were considering selling him before the closure of the transfer window last Wednesday.
"I heard Liverpool were in talks with other clubs behind my back Ð and that hurts," he said.
And the striker believes his World Cup chances could suffer if Benitez continues to play him out of position on the right.
"Everyone knows that being on the right is not where I want to play," he added.
"It's not my best position but the manager puts me there.
"I'm prepared to do it for the good of the club but it's difficult.
"It's a World Cup year and I need to win a place in the French side. At the moment that dream is under threat.
"I'm not like Michael Owen at Newcastle - I'm not guaranteed my place.
"I ask myself, can I be happy only playing every other game? I can't help but wonder about the club's attitude towards me, but I'm prepared to put my head down and keep battling."
