Ping pong is back

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Florent Sinama-Pongolle made a scoring return for Liverpool Reserves after seven months out in the Reds 3-2 defeat to Everton, in the first second string match of the season at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.
Sinama-Pongolle entered the field as a 50th minute substitute to make his first appearance for the Reds since injuring his knee in the Carling Cup semi-final win at Watford on January 25th.

The France Under-21 star played on the right wing and was absolutely superb. He was so sharp and almost single handedly rescued a point for a Liverpool team which had at one stage been 3-0 down and Everton had missed a penalty. Right wing is a position that seems comfortable for Sinama-Pongolle and he can take players on and cause havoc. The watching Rafael Benitez will have been pleased to see him back in action.

Cos he "pings" more shots wide of the mark, than he gets on target! seriously..he will only ever be a squad player, he will always be on the fringes of the first team, unfortunetly he wont become a regular first team selection. Although he is pretty quick with feet, he in not a natural goalscorer. :no

REDTILLDEAD, the more garbage that come's out of your mouth the more I'm convinced you don't have clue about not only Liverpool, but football as a whole.

I've always rated him.  I was at the Fulham came a couple of years ago when he won the penalty with less than 10 minutes left and we won 1-0.  He's a feisty character and although not the strongest on the ball, he takes objection to being muscled out the way and comes back twice as hard.  I think he'll aim to use his flair and skill in a more European style, but if somebody is going to suprise him with the typical Bolton/Everton thuggary, they'll only do it once - because when he's worked it out he can hold his own.

Although slighlty irrelivent, he also looks very cool, and I almost agree with cptrios when he says favourite signing of the Houllier era, although in my case Gary Mac just shades it.  Both gave/give everything they have, but Gary Mac scored that free kick against the bitters...

My only concern with Ping Pong on the wing would be the crossing side of it, like cptrios said.  His interviews on the season DVD were very modest and he spoke about doing it for the team - top bloke and I felt pig-sick for him when he got that injury.

Pongolle is the type of player who doesn't need load's of muscle mass though, he just using pure skill and pace to beat player's. He's the type of player that scare's defender's by running full pelt at them.

I'm one of the biggest spouter's on here? Hahaha, good one dude, I don't even visit this place that often because of people like you - so get your fact's right before you speak a*sward. And when I am here I only post every now and then, I think I've only started one topic since I've been here, so, definitely a case of mistaken identity here.

As for the way I was concieved, that is personal and you went and told a public forum about it. But I suppose it beat's your method of being concieved via a test tube.

So put your handbag down and step away from the vibrator!

I thought he was going a bit Brazilian and just changing his name to "Sinama"? He's a bit of a late bloomer, and he could turn out to be a good 10 a seeason kind of player, which is nice. As for him going to the right side, well, it's worth a shout. Why not try him there for the reserves.

yeh he did play on the right wing yesterday for the reserves against the baby bitters and had a great game. He came on when we were 3-0 down and completely changed the game stevie g style. He was causing all sorts of problems as he was beating loads of players and creating chances and also grabbed himself a goal to and grabbed the results down to 3-2. Rafa was watching him aswell so you could be seeing FSP playing more on the wong this season.
