agree with what everybody else has basically said. we have the players to win it but unfortunately we don't have the manager. can any other country in the world boast as many top class centre backs as we have? we also have two of the best central midfielders in europe the most talented teenager i've ever seen.

How about Italy. It is time for them to win something. Let's get Baggio out there and play again :D

Spain are underachievers and will win nothing.
Italy have a shout but they couldn't get out of an  average group in euro 2004

Brazil will win the 2006 World Cup.

Though if you want a dark horse choice, Manhattan recommends the Ukraine.

hmm, Portugal could as well as Argentina and the Czech Rep. If Portugal can produce the form they did againt Spain, England and Holland in Euro 2004 and in their qualifiers (that 7-0 demolition of Russia was an exceptional display) then they are a match for most teams on their day.

Despite the match being going to penalties, Portugal were the better side against England at Euro 2004, having most of the possession. This was more down to Sven's tactics than England being an inferior team though.

Portugal have the flair and talent to beat anyone on their day, with guys like Deco, Ronaldo, Paulo Ferreira, Maniche and even Pauleta on his day, not to mention a fantastic coach in Scolari.

England definite;y have the sqaud to do very well in Germany though, it'll be down to whether Sven employs the horrible defensive tactics he did at Euro 2004 against the likes of France and Portugal, or he allows them to go out and try and have the majority of possesion and play in a more attacking style.

guys wake up!

last year you all though Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham were the best midfield and they were rubbish, Portugal played you off the pitch and you had very little posession.

I don't rate gerrard and Lampard together. I've never rated Beckham (the kournikova of football) and Cole isn't a winger just a player not good enough to play in the middle for Chelsea.

England have two world class forwards in Owen and Rooney and will have two class cenre backs too which is a good start. I think the goalkeeper issue is week and England lack any good wingers (Ryan Giggs is only good english footballer-apologies to welsh folk).

Who will keep the ball for England, I hate Roy Keane but he keeps the ball just passes it around. Thats the type of player england need, Gerrard will go for the 40 ft hollywood pass everytime and Lampard will be running forward to try to get goals (and he'll probably get a couple) but who will hold the ball for England.

Unless you have somebody to hold the ball in midfield and give England some decent posession, you have very little chance. A couple of wingers and freedom from injuries also good.

I think they'll get to the quarters but thats it.
