What formation is the best to liverpool?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

"When Rafa was in charge at Valencia he liked to play a 4-2-3-1 system and it worked very well for him there. I've got a feeling that this is the system he is most comfortable with and the one he would most like to employ at Liverpool,"

"Last season Benitez didn't have his own players, he had to cope with a lot of injuries and he was coming to terms with the English game so I think he played 4-4-2 simply because he had no other option but I think that will change this year."

[I]

Is 4-2-3-1 system going to work?

                Reina
Finnan--Carra--Milito--Risse

           Alonso--Hamman

Cisse--------Gerrard-------Zenden

                 Morientes

id hate to see cisse on the flanks even though he can go past defenders like they arnt there. hamman i think has 1 maybe 2 years left playing at this level to be fair to him so to sit change formation relying on him wouldnt be too wise. alonso i prefer to be more forward than he plays sometimes as his through balls and 25 yard shots are second to none

and this league is very different to the spanish league aswel

We can't waste Cisse on the wing even if he can go past players as if they aren't even there because we need him to do that through the middle of the park and score plenty of goals as we know he can. I think that the best formation is 4-4-1-1 as BarryBelfast has suggested.
REST IN PEACE PHIL!

"I can see Benitez going down the same path using Crouch up front with three players behind - maybe Cisse towards the right, where he has been using him a lot during pre-season, Gerrard in the middle and the new lad Gonzalez on the left when he is fit. "

May be Benitez thinks that he is not a pure striker.

I dont think the formation calls 4 cisse or bolo 2 play on the wing when valancia imployed the same system aimar & mista played as support strikers inter changing i mean they played that way against us & if it worked against us, so it should work in the prem cause the last time i looked thats the league we r in

I think we sould play with two strikers, because if Baros steys so we have 4 good strikers and we cant sit 3 on the bench!!
I segest 4-1-3-2 formation

            reina
Finan  Cara   newplayer  Risse

             Alonso

garcia/Gonzales  Gerard    Zenden

      Cisse       Morientes

i don't think there is a certain formation that suits liverpool. rafa is a very tactical man and will choose a formation based on who the opponent is. whether its the 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1, 3-5-2 or 4-5-1.
with all the players we have in certain positions he will be able to do this effectively.

because once the new centre back comes in, (whoever it is), will automatically take hyypia's place in many liverpool fans eyes. a bit harsh on hyypia i know, but he is getting on now.
although he has great strength and ariel ability he lacks ALOT of pace. and lets face it in the epl you have players like henry who will absolutely rip him apart.

answered your question?  ???

Have to agree there, I think Rafa will tinker with the formation and personnel a fair bit next season (if pre-season is anything to go by).
