Joaquin would be a monster signing. Snubbing chelsea and real madrid for us would be awesome. I think Rafa can definitely convince him to come to anfield (I bet he wants to already), but I dont know if we could afford him. Betis said they wont let him go unless the offer is close to his buyout clause. which is.....

40 million pounds!!!!

But Rafa can pull it off. I hope he does have a monster signing up his sleeve.

Can't see us getting Joaquim but the rumours are rife in Liverpool that Michael is coming "Home" .........Don't know how high that would rate on the "monster" scale but its up there if it happens ..........

Surely the favorites are Vicente or Aimar? We've been hunting them for a year now with no joy. OOH, I love this bit. The bit where you know something big is going to happen, but you don't know what. Vicente has signed a new contract, but we have been fighting for Aimar for some time now. I think as far as monster signings would go, it would be either Aimar or Owen

I've been thinking about this for a while now and I've worked a few things out. Firstly, I can guarentee you he plays in Spain. Think about it, where could Rafa's scouts and negotiators act without being detected by the British tabloid press? En Espagne! This makes me think striker more now than a mid-fielder or defender as Rafa can see the importance of prem experiance for those two roles. Aimar is an in-between, but the more I think about it, the more I think Luque. He's one of Rafa's favorites, he's versitile, he has the pace and strength to cope with the EPL and there has been a fair deal of muted speculation for a while now. But then again, what do I know?...

I wouldn't put Luque down as a left winger. He's more of a cross between Reyes and Garcia. He may be left footed, but he can play all over an attacking section and I've seen him more sharing a role with Valeron, just behind a lone striker, but granted, he does do a good job on the left too.

As for twenty million for those 3, I can't see it happening. I wish I could, but Milito isn't leaving for less than £12m, Figo may be free or £3m, which doesn't mean much for Michael. Maybe a loan deal though, if Real get Robinho.
