I reckon it's probably gonna be Brazil or Argentina, there aint really an outstanding European team out there at the moment, but plenty of teams look good on paper with the likes of Spain, England, Italy, Holland and France all boasting impressive squads, but none of these play team football like the Brazil and Argentina at the moment.

I think European football is poor at the moment, Czechs are probably the best bet to challenge Brazil and Argentina.

France are poor (no better than Ireland ffs), Italy, Spain & Holland bottle it, England aren't good enough, German football has been terrible last 8 years.

Those are probably my three favourites, but the favourites don't always win.  Italy, England, France and many others could still win it...it's a game of fine margins.

with the players brazil now have who have come through to the first team such as adriano, robinho i see them being very strong again in the world cup. also france should be strong and argentina look very good at the moment. i also fancy englands chances this time around although we always fall short somehow. you would think italy and spain would have a chance but they just dont play well enough and teams like germany are very poor at the moment

south american teams struggle on european soil, and before people start saying most of their squad play their club football in europe these days - they have done for years, the likes of zico, socrates, falcao etc etc all played in europe.
they are good going forward but i think if england played them players like terry and ferdinand would be hard for them to beat whilst rooney would have a field day against them.one of their centre halfs went down with leeds!
every team needs luck but i`m convinced if england can keep their main men fit we will go very close. players like gerrard and rooney are as good as anyone in the world, not to mention the likes of lampard, ferdinand, ashley cole, john terry etc.
this is the best england team i`ve ever seen, we`ve never had so many class players at once in my lifetime.

England have the players to win the World Cup next year - Terry, Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard and Owen are as good as anybody in their positions - but unfortunately not the coach.

Iam with you there JBG.Unfortunaley the FA.in there wisdom rewarded Erickson with a massive contract,it would cost a fortune to get rid of him.Ihave never seen a less animated man on the bench.
During the last World Cup against Brazil he just sat on his hands and seemed void of any ideas.Iwonder would he have
reacted differently if it had been Sweden.I believe the England manager should be an Englishman, for NO OTHER reason than he would have more passion for our national side than someone from abroad.
Jack Charlton did a good job for Ireland but Iam sure some Irish people would have been happier with an Irish boss.

I have lost a few bob backing Spain over the years, and they say a fool and his money are easily parted,so Iwill be backing them again. With the talent available to them they have to come good at some time.

Yes, Spain are an enigma.

The only thing is, they have such extraordinary talent coming through now that they eventually have to win something.

Surely you mean enema ?

I'm putting my money on England .We've probably got those most seasoned and technically gifted squad that we've ever had .Man for man ,with the possible exception of Brasil ,I believe we are a match for any team and given a little bit of luck (every team needs it) we can lift the World Cup.
France ,Germany ,Italy and Argentina are no longer the powers they were .Spain always fail to deliver maybe they can surprise us this time but I doubt it , Portugal are usually just one bad decision against them away from imploding ,Holland ? well if they stop fighting amongst themselves they could be a threat but don't hold you breath.
Brasil certainly are the favourites as usual but as has been shown ,they can be got at . Respect them ,but not to much ,get stuck into them and they are beatable.

England seem to be one of the few established nations who's team is not in decline . Definitely one of the favourites imo.
