Apart from Sissoko signing the other day everything has gone quiet on the striker, defender and right winger front, to me that says that Rafa has something up his sleeve and we could see some possitive news early next week. :)

From the Daily Post:

LUIS FIGO'S dream move to Anfield was edging nearer reality last night.

Representatives for the 32-year-old Portuguese international were holding talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in an attempt to finally tie up a move to Liverpool.

The Bernabeu club are now understood to have agreed to waive the £2million transfer fee that they had initially wanted which scared off Liverpool.

Now his representives were hoping to secure the former world player of the year's move to Merseyside by agreeing a settlement fee with the Spanish giants for the final year of the midfielder's contract.

Liverpool, who publically at least had feared that the move was dead earlier in the week, were last night buoyed by the news that Figo could become part of Rafael Benitez's squad.

Figo had gone on his club's pre-season tour to the United States, but he is now ready to fly back to complete the move should an agreement be reached with Liverpool.

If he's free, why not? This would be really nice if it's true. I hope it is...

***NEWSFLASH***

Figo in liverpool move.

After fixing all preprinted autographs to a written document known as a contract, Figo will move in with the Lord of the manor in Frodsham and train with local side runcorn halton fc to learn new skills before moving straight into the first team for all champions league games.

After securing a deal including £60,000.72 before tax per week, half a pack of cheese and onion crisps (he loves em) and a mars bar, figo decided it was time to move.

"I is very happy at move" exclaimed the portugese greying hero.  "I will be liking to play with gerrard is loverly jubberly delboy" he added.

Real Madrids chairman was more than happy to let figo leave when offered a family pack of Tesco value chicken and mushroom pies, and a small summer vegetables quiche.

"yum yum" proclaimed the silly spaniard.

yeah, i noticed that.  Was quite funny yesterday, when Rafa unvieled Sissoko.  He spoke of his surprise over Moyes's big mouth over transfers.  "you can talk all you like, but until they are in front of you training, it is just talk"

Rafa has a MONSTER signing up his sleeve - one of the guy's at work knows one of Stevie G's mates and this is one of the reasons behind his change of heart last week (and his love of LFC)- he is a very reliable scource and has never been wrong in the past

Think about it we have offloaded lots of salarys from the payroll with very little outlay, apparently its nearly all done & dusted all will be revealed next week, the only other bit he knows is that he's from Spain

:buttrock

I did think it was Owen at the time but I reckon all this gossip about him today is a smokescreen incase anyone tries to hi-jack our imminent arrival  ....   possibly started by us

Figo said the premiership is his dream.  I have read somewhere that Inter is very interested, but I still think we are the favorites to land figo.  I just checked Sky's website and they havent said anything new about figo yet.

the echo mentioned inter were willing to pay cash for him but madrid decided to let him go on a free anyway.
its a straight choice for figo between us and them and i guess we`ll soon see if all that dream move stuff was a load of cr@p.

The only stumbling block for the Figo move is the fact Madrid want a fee. Figo is trying to smooth it over, as Perez promised him a free, but once it transpired Liverpool was to be his destination, other Madrid board members objected following the refusal to allow them "first refusal" on a possible Stevie G tansfer a while back.

It will I understand go through this week.
