Golden past, red future - Anyone got it?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Just got my copy of Paul Tomkins (RAWK) 'Golden Past, Red Future' a couple of days ago. Was planning on saving it as summer holiday reading but have already read the first few chapters - Excellent read so far (as you would expect from Tomkins) and i figure i'll be through it in a few days. For those of you who don't pop onto RAWK Tomkins is one of the regular writers there. His articles are usually superb and much better than anything i ever read in the press (including the Livvy Echo.)

Anyone else got their copy? (J.Mac, Leone, St.Mick ??)

will post up a review of the book when i've finished it.

have ordered it, but not here yet.

If you got it a couple of days ago in the UK, then mine should arrive over the next few days.

I like Paul Tompkins articles, but the best things to read come from the fans who go to most games, and have the passion of scousers which he has neither, cause he is not a scouser nor does he go to most games.
Would prefer a dalglish or Leon Mc article meself.

Hmm I disagree Lynds, although he isn't a scouser he has as much passion as anyone who follows this club.

Read some of his artivle where he talks baout his chronic fatigue and tell me he isn't dedicated to the club.   ???

Don't wanna get into the ooter debate (again) Lynds but you don't have to be scouse to have pride and passion in Liverpool Football Club.

Almost sounds like you take any non-scouse opinion with a pinch of salt?

I haven't got it yet.  I just haven't got round to ordering it yet to be fair but I will be getting it.  I am trying to sort a fortnight to Thailand out and as it's a mammoth flight, I would like to save the book for that so I might not get it until early October.

I believe you can order through Amazon on the net so it shouldn't really matter where you live.

I pre-ordered it months ago from paultomkins.com through paypal, as Scottbot said you can get it on Amazon UK, and I think you can still get it off paultomkins.com.

I doubt it wil be released in Oz at all tbh.

No no mate your wrong, where did I say anything about OOTERS?
I like reading things from the heart, articles that are not complicated, but a lot of his and other peoples articles are full of words, that the normal working class people find hard to understand. He writes excellent articles of course he does but,
If you describe a game or the team whatever, there is no need to put in really difficult words that people dont know the meaning of.

example.
(before the mist from the bottleneck of the celebratory champagne had even evanesced)

I dont know what that last word means, do you?

Do you understand me now?
