9 goals in the last 10 games...why?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We've not had any striker up front consistently for any length of time this season, so maybe they're short on practise and confidence.  However, there's a lot of teams out there who'd fancy Nando, Milan and Cisse in their squad.  Why aren't we scoring?  It's like Houllier's come back.

Who would you have up front in a 4-4-2?
Would you prefer a 4-5-1 anyway?

Well the strikers aren't scoring but the midfield is.

When Luis Garcia plays behind a front man he always looks like scoring (unlike when he plays on the right wing).  Biscan, Hamann, Nunez and Alonso aren't exactly prolific, Gerrard's goals have dried up, though Riise does get a few.

The strikers need to score, plain and simple.  It's why they cost so much to buy and earn top salaries.  If they aren't scoring...what are they doing?

Okay, this is getting silly now...

In the last 11 games:

Luis Garcia - 4 goals
Stevie G - 2 goals
Sammi - 2 goals
Igor - 1 goal
Nando - 1 goal

If you count Luis Garcia as a midfielder, we've only got one goal from strikers in the last 11 games.  We've got 7 from midfield and 2 from defence.  SAMMI HAS SCORED MORE GOALS THAN ALL OUR STRIKERS PUT TOGETHER.

What is going on?!

Milan Baros.........13
Luis Garcia..........12
Steven Gerrard.....11
John Arne Riise.....8

I think this says it all - out midfield do score more goals than out strikers!  Maybe we could put Garcia & Gerrard up front next season!!!!  :D

also, with milan, 3 of those 13 goals came in one game against palace and 2 came against millwall. makes it seem even worse now. :(

The lack of scoring and opportunities mini crisis is what is worrying me most about tuesday night.

You can only defend for 0-0 results for so much of the time.

Maybe we should play Cisse from the start?

well in all fairness cech made two very good saves, one from riise and one from baros. dudek didn't have a save to make all night.

it'll be the same team as wednesday but with hamann coming in for alonso i would think.
