Carling cup - Is a sub standard cup..fact

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I agree with Gerrard, this cup is nice to win but is NOT a major title.  Probably anoyed me most about Hollour is the fact he thought we should be "proud" of winning this cup....ffs even Man utd, Arsenal wouldn't put out a full team for these matches and i'm pleased we are following the same.  Put the reserves out for the 2nd leg, more important things to go for...

Man U  put out their strongest side in 2003 when they met us in the final ??? And if we make the final this time round you can bet chelsea dn Man u wil do exactly the same !

Everyone knows it's not the pinnacle of achievement but it can be a springboard to grater glories.

I'm disapointed that fans seem intent on demeaning one of only half a dozen honours available each season ???

Stu doesn't think that at all and idiotic pointless posts like this wreck the forum which is already in serious decline because of the amount of idiotic pr!cks posting rubbish like this.

Also, your sad and worthless opinion, which no-one gives a toss about, doesn't make something a fact. Get a life, get a clue, bet a job, "support" a different team, then come back.

I don't think he does 7_Kewell, all he is saying is that a trophy is a trophy and winning trophies equals success. This season the fianl will probaly be LFC vs Manure/Chelse a quality match fitting of nay competition and would be nice to win in Rafa's first season in charge.

No one is denying it's 4th priority, but if you get as far as we have you may as well try and win the thing.

No Scott, why should you want to win a football match? Surely losing doesn't matter just this once... you know... its only a game...

Sound like my ****** ex bird you ******.

If we lose a friendly i'm ****** off, let alone a competative match. Mind you, what would you care 7_kewell, you probably don't put a penny into the club or watch any of the games anyway.

Exactly stu, I always want to see Liverpool win, it ruins my day if they lose , it's as simple as that.

How people can sit there and say "I don't care if we win or lose, it's only the league cup" boggles my mind, not that I am accusing 7_Kewell of that, it just seems some fans don't care sometimes and how they consider themselves fans if they don't care is beyond me.

I'd put the 2003 Worthington Cup final Win over the Mancs right up there in terms of my experiences of watching LFC.

When I was standing arms outstretched in thre Milennium stadium surveying a  sea of flags, banners, scarfs and the incredible noise that 35,000 Liverpool make when they really want to , the LAST thing on my mind was "ohhh isn't this a sub standard trophy "

Fans love finals and the opportunity to celebrate in the intoxicating atmosphere and quite honestly at that moment in time it doesn't matter a feck what the name on the trophy is !!!!!!

i wasn't referring to you necessarily.

I agree somewhat with your last statemnt. If we finsih 12th but win the league cup that is not a successful season, although at least we have something to smile about.

If we finish 3rd and win the league cup the 3rd place is great and the league cup is the icing on the cake so to speak, sure I would rather see us win the European Cup or PL, but we haven't won them for 20 and 15 years respectively, so you have to be relaistic.

I agree, but my point is, the league cup is nice to win, especially if its over man utd!  but to base a season on that alone...like Houllier, is not good.  The worst thing was, we would put out a first 11 against some div2 team and Arsenal, Man utd would put out their reserves!  I'm very happy Rafa has seen past the GH line of "our first team must play every match"

I swear you just said you don't care weather we did or didn't win it?

Make your mind up.
