Standard off signings - Appy days

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby murphy0151 » Tue Aug 31, 2004 3:47 pm

I cant believe there are people on here douting the manager already.  I bet ya two things these people who are having douts about the spanish aramada, have never even been to Anfield.  Then again I bet ya they havent even been to Liverpool.  An they sit there moaning in the little arm chairs every time they see Liverpool on the box.  Saying the same old thing over and over again.  Get a grip silly people, its early days.

Look at the quality off the singing's he's brought in for starters.  Josemi looks a snip at the price we got him for, when you see woodgate going for 13 million.  Also Xabi Alonso has got the quality's to be a world beater, so another super signing in my eyes.  An Garcia I have seen him play a few times last season for Barca.  I think this lad will be the best signing we have made for a good number off years.  An finally Nunes, well I cant say anything about him yet.  But am sure he will be better than the likes off Bruno Who and Vladi an all the other ****** Houllier bought.

Its going to take time old chaps but, it will be well worth!!!!!!!!

Anyone else made up Jimmy stayed?

i agree that for 2m josemi could prove to be an inspirational signing from rafael benitez, especially when you consider chelsea paid 13m for paulo ferreira. i think that all of our new signings will take time to bed in but will come to the fore in the second half of the season. top 4 is obviously the target, but top 3 would be great.

as for traore, i'm not his biggest fan but it may be a good thing that he's stayed as a squad player because we haven't brought anyone in.

I think its too early yet to judge any of them but the initial impression of Josemi is very encouraging. He already looks twice the player Steve Finnan is.

As for Ferreira, StMick, I wouldn't judge him merely on his disasterous game against Greece in Euro 2004. He has been the best right back in Europe for the last two years and half of a poor game in the opening game of the European Championships was probably only a blip. Had Portugal not had such an excellent alternative in Miguel I'd say Ferreira would have redeemed himself.

a friend of mine is a chelsea season ticket holder (yes he is loaded) and claims that ferreira has looked average since signing. he's no way 6 TIMES the player josemi is. another example of chelsea's transfer market being separate to everyone elses. :;):

Really to early to judge the new guys coming in particularly as it can take foreign players up to a whole season to find their feet an form in England. Remember Viera and Petit were the butt of a few jokes during their 1st 6 months at Arsenal? Still that doesn't stop us making our minds up in a game or 2. My fist impressions are:

Cisse - Bloody quick (need i mention it) very raw with a few tricks up his sleeve and some awareness of what is goin on around him and looks like he wants to attack defenders. Will need to learn how to use his size/strength + he does not hold up the ball so well. Early verdict - Could be bloody awesome.

Josemi - Settled in very quickly. Decent pace (although got skinned by Pedersen for goal) strong in the tackle and not afraid to go forward. Early verdict - Looks like an absolute steal to me.

Garcia - Only played one game but i thought he was our best player (along with JC) against Bolton. Only player to show any real urgency, great movement (he popped up everywhere) got some trix and looked like he really wanted the ball (are you watching Harry?) Early verdict - I was impressed

Alonso - Didn't think he had a great game and like Gerrard he was trying to play the killer ball time an time again. Still, he looked pretty composed on the ball and showed some vision with a few of his passes. I think it would have helped him to play in a midfield-two next to Stevie. Early Verdict - Can't say from just one game.

I'd tend to agree with that last post but I do think that the biggest question mark hangs over Cisse.

He strikes me as a fella with loads of potential but I'm hoping he has the attitude to match that ability.

Like Owen , Cisse needs the service if we want the best out of him.I don't expect a fella with his pace to hang about playing neat football , a bit of space and something to run onto is all he needs . :)

Imagine the squad we will have in 3-4 years time if Rafa is given the backing that GH recieved. Josemi will prove to be buy of the season IMO.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Cisse isint really a Rafa signing in my eyes boys.  He was allready on his way long before Rafa was even mentioned.  Ive got a funny felling about Cisse, can anyone remmember when we player Auxerre an he got subbed.  He spat his dummy out on the bench didint he.  I just hope he dosnt start that ****** here.

I am sorry but I must of been watching a different game than everyone else on the weekend. The only thing that Garcia did that was constructive was score the goal that was disallowed. Our best player by quite a clear margin was Warnock and he made way for Cisse. I can name several players that played better than him. I think Dimji Trarore played better than he ever has for us. Xabi Alonso looks like he will be a great partner for the greatest midfielder going around at the moment in Stevie G. I wait with baited breath to see how Nunez performs in the EPL. Josemi played well except for getting done by Pedersen. Hamman should have been sold off during Pre-Season or retired. We have enough midfielders. Maybe another centre back and play JC at right back and play Josemi at left. Should have pushed harder for Boumsong. Oh Well.

I've been away for a couple of days,so I have some catching up to do.I can't believe fans are having a go at Benitez so early in the campaign, but then again nothing surprises me.I will do a bit of reading tonight to find out the opinions of our "knowledgeable" members.I know everyone is a bit dissappointed with a couple of early results but time is needed for the new players to bed in and I'm sure things will come good.

Hamann should off retired, why?

He's still a great player, just that when your watching on the tele you dont get to see what Hamanns all about.  You would be a gud manager you mate bye the way.  Who would you have has cover for SG an XA if any off them was to pick an injury up?

Silly boy!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO we are a more solid oufit with didi in the team alongside Stevie G, he is one of our few consistant performers. Alonso will have to fight for his place so we should keep defo keep him otherwise Biscan might find himself a regular spot.
I dont know if you can remember the french dude who came on here to congratulate us on our purchase of cisse and how he laughed at us when we comapred him to other Gh buys from the French league. Apparently their whole nation were shocked when we bought Cheyrou and Diouff as the were not regarded in such a high esteem that they would be wanted by Liverpool. I hope he keeps a bit of that fire in his belly tho coz perhaps then Baros will actually start to look up and pass the ball so he doesnt get an earfull from him.

Off skiving eh Supersub?

I don't think Garcia had a great debut and he looked like a little boy lost in the first 50 minutes but as they game wore on he got more into the pace of it and while he didn't do anything drastic (although his goal should have stood) it was encouraging to see him get himself into good positions.

dietmar hamann has been a great servant to lfc. this is the last year of his contract so he should be rewarded for his loyalty by still being considered an important first team squad member.

put it this way, at least the bench will look stronger with hamann sat there. :)
