Will it be anelka instead?

i think anelka is a great player. he just needs to be playing in a good team with a strong manager to get the very best out of him. it has become quite obvious that he has been suffering from a lack of motivation at city over the last 12 months because they are not able to realistically fulfill his ambitions. if he signs for us at least you can guarantee that rafa won't stand for any sh#t from him.

If we are really going for it, then Let's have both !!
Swap out any of Mellor, Diao, Biscan, Henchoz and even Pongolle to keep the cash price down  !!

Anelkas stats are very good...  and with a midfield like ours working for him they would be even better... better service = more goals
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

looks kinda like kanoute in that picture
problem of bringin them both in is:
1)its too expensive
2)if all four of them are ever possibly fit at the same time, none of them will like being benched

Why would you sell Pongolle? Let's say we buy Anelka and Morientes, one of them gets injured so who is going to replace them?

Sell Pongolle no chance i can see him as an Henry/Ronaldo type player if he uses his skill and trickery with goal scoring and speed to maximum potential.

Benitez hints that Anelka could be available for a fee of around £6m.

Anelka cost City a club record 13 million pounds two and a half years ago and City still owe Paris St Germain five million pounds of that.

I did say any of the group of players, not all of them and Pongolle would be the last resort of the five.
But if we were to buy both Anelka and Morientes, we also have Baros, Cisse and Kewell when they are fit !!
however, it is probably doubtful that we would be bold enough to go for both.

Kewell isn't a striker, he's a winger. Cisse may not be the same again as far as his pace is concerned after what has happened to him.

Its also apparent that Real Madrid are going to make life as difficult as possible for Liverpool signing Morientes, I think Benetiz should stop wasting his time with Madrid, and just go for Anelka which would probably be much easier.
Though, Manchester City are adament that they won't let Anelka go unless they recieve a 'wild' offer as they owe PSG 5 million.
Maybe Benetiz should look elsewhere? What are everyone elses opinions on Anelka?

thats what i hate about madrid. We specifically did not play owen in the champions league seeing that it will affect his value. Madrid paid 8 million for a 24 yr world class goalscorer.

Madrid on the other hand played morientas in the champions league. He is 29 this year. And they want 6.5 million for him ?

Ask them to go screw themselves......

Sean wrote:Anelka is not an out and out goalscorer (check out his stats if you don't believe me).  We need somebody who wll guarantee us at least 20 goals a season.  Anelka is not capable of that.

1)Anelka was the top scorer for arsenal in his 1st full season.

2)Then he went off to madrid where he did not fit him. But he did go on a run of goals towards the end of his tenure there.

3)He went to PSG. Fell out with the coach. Did not play many matches.

4)When he came here, he wasshort of match fitness. But towards the end of the season, he started scoring & creating goals. Houllier also did not start him in every match opting to bring him as a 2nd hald sub most of the time.

5)When to city. Scoring goals  somewhat reguarily at the moment in a weak city team.

He should cost only 8 million pounds. But if rafa brings out the best in him (who wants to bet against that), he transfer value will balloon.

My opinion only....
