Who will sign Anelka?..You or we?.. :blues:

Let's make a deal; u sign Morientes, we sign Anelka?..  :;):

"Troubled France striker Nicolas Anelka could be set to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce, it has been revealed.

The 25-year-old former Arsenal and Real Madrid star had been linked with a possible return to Liverpool where he spent a few months on loan in the 2001/02 season.

But Fenerbahce officials met with their City counterparts on Friday to discuss a bid believed to be in the region of £7 million."
CNN International

"Turkish champions Fenerbahce have emerged as surprise favourites to land Manchester City's want-away striker Nicolas Anelka.

Fenerbahce are looking to Anelka to spearhead their UEFA Cup campaign alongside former Celtic front-man Pierre van Hooijdonk.

Ousted from the Champions League by Lyon and Manchester United, the ambitious Turkish outfit feel Anelka is the man to help them make a big impact in Europe during the second half of the season."

I think going from Man City to Fenerbache would be a step down in his career.

It depends on where u look from...

Yea, u right, it's a falling; going to Turkish Super League from Premiership.

But if u compare the teams: City and Fenerbahce, that will be big step for his career if he comes Turkey. He can be 'the best' again..

Allright, maybe it's true :;):

I hope you will sign Morientes, and we get Nicholas.

I was born as a Fenerian and will die as a Fenerian. I can't say for any team that it's bigger than Fenerbahce even if it's true.

About your suggestion..No, thanks :glare: what we need is an Anelka..

Anelka wants to win things and he wants to play for a quality side, we are that side. Why go to Fenerbache when he will have to adapt to the league, learn a new language,etc... when he can play for Liverpool without having to adapt or learning a new language.

Even if we sign Morientes, I'd still say that we will sign Anelka.

Welcome anyhow Mr Fenerbace. Ever since you beat the Mancs and gave them bags of trouble in the CL a few years back you'll always be welcome on here for me. Looks like you've got yourself a really good stadium too. On the question of Anelka, this is probably the last time that anyone will risk paying a fee for him. He's clearly thrown the toys out at Man City and their money men must be bricking it at the thought of losing the whole 13 mill they laid out for him. This is the crux, if he just refuses to play or take a test when he wants to leave a club it renders his transfer value negligable. Given this, any fee you or us pay for him now is probably gonna be written off come the end of his stay. With this in mind, I'd pay no more than 4 million for him and go for a 3.5 year deal. If it's you who get him mate he's a top player but good luck with him and his advisers off the pitch.

Hey Bigmick, where did you go for your Xmas holidays, Turkey ?
The Morientes / Anelka saga could run out in our favour :
The delay and prevarications in the Morientes deal are all about pure brinksmanship. Morientes is 28yrs old and not worth a King's ransom, his resale value even at the end of this season will be quite low.
I think that Rafa has given Parry the spine to give them a taste of their own negotiating medicine. I hope Rafa walks and leaves RM to come back at the end of Jan on our terms.
By which time we will have bought Anelka for £5m and a player exchange !!

That way we might get both for a reasonable price. !!

We sure as hell need them both to blitz the remainder of the season.

A cunning plan, what do you think ?

I think Morientes maybe worth more than you think. Apparantly he's a Sheringham type, never had any pace so he can't lose it. That said, we owe them a bit of brinkmanship and I like the way Rafa does the biz. I'd like to get 'em both as I'm unsure about Cisse even if fit and don't rate Mellor at all.

Sorry, didn't want to stress the Morientes value bit, I was thinking more of pulling a good deal for a change. It sounds as though they would be a good combo, with Anelka's rapier thrusts from Morientes service.
I hope it could come off, maybe even Anelka now and Morientes on a Bosman at the end of the season !!
