With Morientes signing, have we lost interest in Anelka ?

Hopefully not. The two of them would be immense.

Morientes looks a player i must admit. Seeing video clips and goals he scored reminded me of how good a player he actually is.

The 2 for spain the euro's, firstly off the back heal from Raul and secondly the one where he played the 1-2 on the edge of the box were terrific.

Imagine that, Anelka and Morientes *drools*. :D

as i said i am still lead to believe anelka is coming

my point was that now we have landed mori we now have the upper hand in the nico deal where we know the player wants to come here and no where else

newcastle want distin and city are desperate for funds for another striker but cant buy till cash comes in

yes,we can move in with a bid for around 5-6 million or we can wait...anelkas value to city is dropping by the day, more so if he refuses to play again this weekend with his bad back :D

Am I the only one who didn't think Anelka did that well at LFC?

His attitude is terrible too. Players like Collymore had bags of potential but the wrong attitude and amounted to nothing.

Imagine that, the first half of the season we have a striker crisis and the second half we have them in abundance

If we had the money I would love to see Anelka at the club especially as Morientes cannot play champions league

What about Diouf as part exchange

But then where would baros fit in?  and cisse when he comes bak from injury?  ??? If Rafa cant find a place for Cisse then that will make Cisse by far Liverpool's highest profile (and most expensive) flop.

Anelka wasn't match fit when he arrived at Liverpool in late 2001, having been frozen out at PSG. When here he didn't start many games consecutively, as Houllier used him as third choice, behind Heskey. We saw in the past, with Baros (and indeed Fowler in later years), how being in for one game, out for two or three, affects a striker's confidence and rhythm. Houllier must have had his reasons for ditching Anelka, as he'd said (circa 1999) that Anelka would win the European Footballer of the Year at some stage. It is a fact that the French national academy rated him more highly than Henry when both were teenagers.

He gets a bad press, but not too many managers or teammates have a bad word to say about him; he made mistakes as a youngster, but compared to El Hadji Diouf appears to be a saint. He's at a great age (still only 25), fit as a fiddle (rarely injured), with bags of experience (at four great clubs, and Manchester City) and still has eight or nine years left; if City have to sell on the cheap, he'd be an investment if only in sell-on terms.

Anelka has unfinished business at Liverpool and it will draw him like a magnet ,but i would still prefer Johnson from Palace

Morientes alongside either Baros or Cisse would be a fantastic partnership.

So we have four strikers

What if next season we are seriously going for the league and all cup competitions we need qulaity strength in depth especially up front and in midfield

???

all this talk about johnson really baffles me. yes the guy is playing well but to suggest that he is all of a sudden good enough for lfc is baffling. his situation reminds me too much of michael ricketts. he had one exceptional season, got an england cap and look what happened to him after that.

All I know was that Anelka was gutted that we didn't keep him . Maybe under a mgr like Rafa we will see a change of temprament in Anelka .
Most (not all) of the negative comments surrounding him are related to his attitude but with a possible strike force of Baros ,Morientes , Cisse (nxt season) and Anelka if we can afford it I would take the chance ,we wouldn't have to worry about our attacking options for the forseeable future.

It just seems to be getting better and better.  :D

£5m plus Mellor, Henchoz and Diao would be a good deal for both City and LFC. City could use all three of those lad's and we could use Anelka !!

I dont see the need for another striker!

We have two understudys and 2 main strikers not forgetting Cisse when he returns!
I just hope that Mellor can learn from Moro!
