Although I have stated that I am against the signing of Fowler. I woulden't have a problem if he came on loan from January untill the end of the season considering our current situation, we will probarly not have to pay all of his wages and he could provide us with much needed experience upfront. And we woulden't be lumbered with him at the end of the season.

BANNERS AT ALL HOME GAMES!

Let's give Rafa a nudge, eh?

Seriously, he'd be so cheap it'd be ridiculous to overlook him given the state of our squad at the moment.

Dont see it happening. On loan there would b little risk however if it were anelka to resign now i think that could have some mileage. Maybe the robbie thing is just a candid smokescreen!

Just found this article its a good read im sure most will agree

Premiership: Why Robbie Fowler would still be a good Liverpool signing.

I don't usually tend to respond with a knee jerk reaction to articles written here, so I have left it a few days and thought I'd compose a decent reply to Bill Urban's reaction against my calling for Fowler to return.

Jamie Carragher is another classic example. He has been playing almost every game for Liverpool. Obviously, he isn't the goalscorer that Liverpool need in the January Sales, but having been bred in the football obsessed city that is Liverpool, he has a very good idea, like Robbie Fowler, of what it means to play for Liverpool FC. What it means to a local lad, his family, his friends, his fans and his city.

Knowing how patriotic and loyal our American friends tend to be, I'm hoping Mr Urban can appreciate this.

Carragher is so much of a fans' favourite, that he's playing his football like he's never done so before. So much so, that even Eriksson is taking a shine to him. This may have been a result of extra training and fitness, but an important factor is the adrenaline rush that keeps you going when being a product of the club and filling a position as prestigious as he has. Just like Shankly would have wanted - for his players to run through brick walls for the club.

Only a handful of people on the entire planet get the privilege and responsibility Carragher has been given. With all due respect, and taking nothing away from the fantastic players & supporters of Liverpool FC past & present who haven't emerged from Merseyside, one thing that is for certain is that Jamie Carragher knows what this is all about and what it really means to play for Liverpool FC. Again, without wanting to demean non-Liverpudlians, playing for Liverpool probably means more to Carragher than it would to Baros or Garcia, simply because of Carragher's Liverpudlian roots. My point exactly with Fowler, who by the way, had another decent game this weekend just gone.

Does Mr Urban still feel he's lost it all?

If you take a look at the average Liverpool teams of the past, there will always be a group of players who like I say, know more than anyone, what it is like to wear the Red jersey with pride. Today it's only Carragher in defence and Gerrard in the middle. Players who truly know what it takes to play for Liverpool FC. Sure, Jamie may have had an unfortunate upbringing and followed the Blue half of Merseyside, but I'm sure he just couldn't get a ticket at Anfield? Joking aside, no matter where his allegiance lay in the past, the sheer footballing passion of the city drives him to give that bit extra for the club. As is the case for Stevie Gerrard and Robbie Fowler.

McManaman was nearly the same, but he chose to chase the money and the medals. Redknapp wasn't Liverpudlian, but had been there from a young age and never wanted to leave HIS club. Jason McAteer & David Thompson are others who weren't brilliant, but good enough because the club ran through their veins. Sure in this day and age Gerrard was tempted to leave, but the important fact is that he didn't.

You just need to look elsewhere in the Premiership to see that loyalty has a price. Sol Campbell, Frank Lampard, Scott Parker to name but a few. Players who have returned 'home' have also done well. Shearer chose Newcastle over Man Utd, Ferguson returned to Everton after his stint with Newcastle,

Then there's Robbie Fowler. Driven out of the club by Phil Thompson. Phil Thompson could never handle the fact that Fowler had achieved nothing in comparison to him, but was still more of a legend than Thompson could ever be. That's in the past and that's forgotten by most. But not by a lot of Liverpool fans. It cuts deep, I'm afraid. Thank you Phil or what you did FOR the club, but the damage you did TO the club as a coach is not far from the damage Souness did. Who in their right mind would push God out of his empire?

What was Robbie's thinking then? This Liverpudlian who grew up in an unglamorous, crime ridden area of Liverpool that is Toxteth, yet who is so proud of his beloved city. Robbie was the best thing on Merseyside, since King Kenny Dalglish. Since Dixie Dean. Since the Beatles. Robbie the Liverpudlian, didn't chase the money. He didn't chase the medals. He just wanted to play for Liverpool FC. He wasn't doing a bad job at it either! Robbie who has more of Liverpool in his blood than any other Liverpool player, continued to gesture the 4 finger salute to Man Utd fans, continued to taunt the Evertonians with his goals and antics, continued to stick up for the local Dockers, continued to play for Man Utd's rivals. Only a true Liverpudlian would do this as an alternative to chasing money & medals.

This, Mr Urban is why I think re-signing Fowler will be good for the club, the city, the fans, and Robbie himself, despite his injuries and loss of pace.

class. :D

I am an advocate of a retuen of God, although he is past his best he will put in 100% effort if her comes back beacuse he loves the club and the club loves him.
He could play a role similar to what Les Ferdinand did last season for Leicester, come on for 20 mins or half an hour in the ood game and grap a couple of winning goals, maybe even a couple of starts here and there.

could you imagine the lift it would give the fans inside Anfield if we were level or down a goal and Robbie came on to the pitch to try and grab a equaliser/winner.

just finished watching the Boro vs City game, good game, althoguh the 3-2 result for Boro doesn't do us any favours.

Fowler played a full 90 minuts and scored City's first goal with a good run into the box and scoring with a decent finish from a flick on by Macken, showing he still has tose predatory instincts. He was relativley quiet for the rst of the game largely dues to Bosvelt and Barton being poor for moist of the game in City's midfield and Boro also did a good job of shutting down Shaun Wright-Phillips for most of the game, with Fowler feeding off the likes of Gerrard and Alonso he would still score a few goals with us.   :)

on another note, Bradley Wright - Phillips (SWP's younger brother) cae on for the last 15 mins or so and scored a good goal and made a few good runs. He is a striker and has scored something like 10 goals in 10 games for Man City reserves, looks a very promising young player.

FOWLER LOOKED LEAN AND TRIMMER AROUND THE MIDDLE THAN HE HAS FOR MANY A YEAR. KEEGAN SAID ON THE WEND THAT HE IS AT LAST FIT, AS HE HAS HAD NIGGLE AFTER NIGGLE FOR THE PAST 18MTHS. SO I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM BK. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK LATE TONIGHT I HAD ONE OF THOESE MOMENTS, I SAW FOWLER SCORE IN FRONT OF THE KOP AND THE PLACE WENT CRAZY I COULDNT FIGURE OUT IF IT WAS A FLASHBACK OR WHETHER IT WAS A PREMONITION. ROLL ON JANUARY AND I MAY FIND OUT

Even though I love Robbie Fowler I don't think we should sign him... a loan would be good but only because we have Cisse out for the season... it wouldn't be fair to Robbie to sign him and then make him sit on the bench because Baros and Cisse are playing better than him...

Fowler 4th richest active player   he would even buy us a player if he came back or play for a minimum fee, im tellin ya :D

Fowler near rich list summit

HE might not be everyone's favourite striker at City, but Robbie Fowler is a clear winner when it comes to financial nous.

In a newly-published football rich list for Four Four Two magazine, compiled by the producers of the Sunday Times Rich List, Fowler is the fourth wealthiest active player - and the highest ranked British-based Englishman in the list.

David Beckham predictably leads the way, but other than the Real Madrid star only Dennis Bergkamp and Michael Owen are placed above the Blues hitman.

United trio Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane are all joint sixth in the list.

Leading active players in the English game:

1 David Beckham (Real Madrid), £65million.

2 Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal), £37million.

3 Michael Owen (Real Madrid), £30million.

4 Robbie Fowler (Manchester City), £28million.

5 Alan Shearer (Newcastle), £22million.

6 Sol Campbell (Arsenal), £20million.

6 Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), £20million.

6 Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), £20million.

6 Roy Keane (Manchester United), £20million.

10 Thierry Henry (Arsenal), £18million.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
