This is one of 10 news reports, and it looks like we built our hopes up for nothing, as he wants to go back to Monaco.
Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes is desperate to return to Monaco after being starved of first-team action with the Spanish giants.
The Spanish international spent a fruitful last season on loan at the French club, but returned to Madrid in the summer after being reassured of his future at the Bernabeu by former coach Jose Antonio Camacho.
Camacho then signed Michael Owen from Liverpool before resigning as Los Meringues' coach after just six games in charge and Morientes has seen his first-team opportunties dwindle even further under new boss Mariano Garcia Remon.
The 28-year-old was already behind Ronaldo and Raul in the pecking order up front, but the subsequent arrival of Owen effectively means he is now fourth-choice in attack.
The forward, who has made just nine substitutes appearances for Real this campaign, admits he would desire to go back to the Principality as soon as possible and hopes the two clubs can reach an agreement on a deal when the January transfer window comes around.
"I have a great desire to go back there," Morientes told L'Equipe.
"I have always felt I left something there I have not terminated. I only have good memories from my period at Monaco.
"On a personal level, I can see no disadvantage to restarting the experience; the sooner the better.
"I hope we will soon sit around a table to settle an agreement."
