Not a great start to the season but at least we havent been beat yet. Despite it being a draw i thought there were some positives, there was much more fight from us, loved that blatant yellow Wirtz took, thats how you do it, hard nosed football.
Great to see Isak get a goal and not just any goal but a proper bread and butter strikers goal where his positioning was spot on, he was exactly where he needed to be, Munoz looks a terrific little player as well.
We are not where we want to be but it was a much better performance than last week.
Get Barcola on one wing, Munoz the other and we'll cause teams problems.

Unless Iraola can miraculously get a tune out of Frimpong and Kerkez, neither look good enough to be plying their trade at us. Both give me headless chicken vibes. Suppose they'll get the season but if it's more of the same, very likely we'll be needing two new fullbacks in the next year.

It's not the manager's fault, even the previous manager wasn't as much at fault as those above him were. Last summer's transfer window was one of the worst for as long as I can remmember, we just signed too many average players or players that aren't good enough for a top team and spent a ton of money in the process. 

We spent a king's ransom on both Wirtz and Isak and although they have their moments they're no where near the level we need them to be. While the 2 fullbacks we signed seem to be not good enough to even sit on our bench, completely useless. So that's 2 players that were meant to carry this team but ended up being average and 2 others that are not at the required level at all, all 4 are in the starting line up! Not to mention we never addressed our DM problem.

Our transfer strategy got it terribly wrong last season and we're gonna suffer the consequences for a while now, not much a manager can do about that. On the plus side this window's signings look good at least.

We’ve had our pants pulled down on the prices for a lot of these players.

I’ve seen nothing in our full backs from the past 12 months to suggest they are anywhere near good enough.

And I’m growing concerned about Isak and Wirtz.

Our new gaffer has his work cut out.

Yup not the best, tbh I kinda of expected this sort of performance and result. We look okay in moments but lacklustre aswel. Munoz looked good, and at this rate maybe we should keep Gakpo for the goals/assists lol. Yeah I am concerned about Isak and Wirtz, no where near level of expectation. Isak looks far too static, seems like his waiting for the ball on a plate.

Long season ahead folks, plenty of smiles and cries.

Munoz does look promising, as does Jacquet who is already an upgrade on Konate.

I've been reflecting on the past two games and getting more and more depressed over the two FBs we have and his they just don't seem to have basic footballing acumen, or even common sense.
Against NEW, Kerkez was never going to match Elanga for pace, yet didn't have the savvy to drop a couple of yards behind him. Meaning head to head he was going to get stuffed every time. And he did.
And then today, with Jacquet on the ground after putting the ball out, Frimpong doesn't anticipate Williams running in behind, let's him go, and that's how the penalty arose. Again, a lack of footballing acumen.
That can't be taught by a manager. You know that, or you don't. And if you don't you pay the price. Like we did this week and last week.
And I can't see us upgrading either FB before the transfer window closes.
