Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If we go into next season with the 4 CB's we've got now no way on earth do we finish in the top 4, i'll just be happy to stay in the division and i'm not even joking.
We can write Joe off for a start, we'll be lucky to get 38 minutes out of him never mind 38 games, i've written Leoni off for this season too, even the likes of Virgil and Rodri took 6 to 7 months to get back to somewhere near their best and thats if the lad ever does get back to his best, horrible to say but the likes of the Ox and Martin Kelly were never the same players again, you dont come back after 12 months out with an ACL injury and hit the ground running that's why i'm writing him off until next season.
So that leaves us with a 35 year old Virgil, and lets not forget the older you get the more susceptible you become to strains and pulls, and a lad who turned 21 a few weeks ago who seems to have a sketchy injury record himself and has never played a single minute in the prem.
Let's face it whoever Virgil's partner is be it Jacquet, Joe or Leoni they will be getting targeted to ***** by opposition teams, they'll definitely see that right sided CB slot as a possible weakness in our armour.
I wouldnr be surprised if we get to see Gravenberch and Endo playing there before the season's out.

1-0 Isak against Monaco. Was about to say we're not involving him enough but he had half a chance and took it, which is exactly what we need from him and hope he does it more often.

2-0 with a Wirtz goal, to be fair Monaco are no where near a PL side for physicality so it looks like a friendly. Independent of today though, I feel that both Isak and Wirtz will great seasons. I think both will have a point to prove as last year was not their level.

2-1 HT, decent game apart from the soft pen given to them but yeah Monaco don't look like a PL level side.

I did like how Ndukwe looked next to VVD. Wasn't really impressed by him in previous games but it's different when you're playing with the team's best players. I'd like to see Nyoni and Rio get a chance with the main players in the second half too.

Looking at the bench Jones isn't on it. I don't recall him getting injured so he must be near an exit.

We've come out half assed this 2nd half and paid the price. Dom and Gravenberch look knackered already. We need better legs in that midfield if we want to compete this season.

The - pretty quiet - fans are treating Rio like a Messiah. I think that's putting a lot of pressure on the kid and if I'm honest, I'm really not convinced by him yet

Lads, Endo is farkin' useless. And Mamardashvili not a whole lot better.
Every team we play this season knows we are shyte at the back.
Top 4 is looking like a pipe dream right now

Kerkez? Defending a corner stood there thinking about what hes having for his dinner. The attention span of a goldfish. This like the Leeds game shows how embarrassingly thin our squad it.

Well, the first half was decent but we still lost the game, after making a lot of changes.

I agree what's been said above about looking leggy after initially putting in a lot of effort into pressing. Pressing is good but we need to be able to maintain the energy for most of the game not just for 30 minutes.

Hopefully the manager can sort this out but we need players too. After giving it some thought and looking at some videos I really think Alex Scott would be a great player for us, knows the manager, plays his style well and is able to play at a high tempo. Wharton is also good but he is more of a Slot-ball player IMO, Scott would be a better fit. Chelsea have had a £65m bid rejected for him, maybe we can hijack that deal if we manage to sell Jones and/or Mac Allister.

For the sake of the quota of local players, it has to be Scott or someone like that. I don't see the hype with Wharton to be honest. If Jones does go, he would have to be replaced by someone from the UK. I hope Jones does go. I think he's a spoofer.
