Fixtures for the new season

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If we are going to have doom and gloom lets have some realistic doom and gloom

We will take full points against Big teams  and drop about 15 to the likes of Stoke, Swansea etc

Or alternately new manager enjoying a honeymoon period with a strengthed squad desperate to prove something after last year's underachivement hit the ground running and its all over by Christmas like good old 80s days

It's the same every season with our supporters. New manager, same old expectations. Out of the picture in November, supporter unrest, calls for a change of manager, failure to get into the Champions League, manager is sacked, repeat cycle for the following season.

I'm not expecting anything next season, I've given up having expectations with this football club, you never know what's going to happen with our club.

It's a tough start but what a great opportunity to be up amongst the top of the table come the end of September, we could have been away to all of those teams, now that would have been harsh!
I have no illusion that we'll be challenging for the title come the end of the season but i do want us to challenge for 4th place this year.

Challenging for 4th is still very high expectations.

You're missing the point the top sides would never have to play each other at home in the first three games exactly because the premier league know that they couldn't afford for those sides to lose so much ground early on in the title race.

It's just a fix as far as I'm concerned and probably another gap that we won't make up in terms of the title race.

The fixtures on paper looks tough, playing Man City, Arsenal, Manure, Newc, Chelsea all within the first 10 games. Buck Rodgers would better buck up the squad before we find ourselves at the bottom of table like having Hodgson back again.

this can be problematic... with a new manager, if we have a bad start to the league, our confidence will dive...

We've got a lot of difficult fixtures ahead of us, no different to last season then. I'm confident that with Brendan Rodgers we can obtain many more points than we did last season. I felt last season a lot of our problems in match were directly linked with Kenny and his management style. Rodgers did very well with a Swansea team that weren't the most techincally gifted players in the league, but whom showed great tactical discipline and a belief in their manager's ability and his tactics. There is no reason for us to fear any team in the league and all we need to is get the basics right and get some much needed confidence which in turn will get us a greater level of consistency.

Agreed. Especially with Caroll as our main striker... We got no fire power at all...

there's a Euro competition currently underway so pipe down, dry your eyes and wait until our gaffa starts training with the team, then dipping into the transfer market to fill the voids in our squad. ie striker.

all will become good again  :buttrock
