I somewhat feel for Curtis tbh about this whole armband thing. It's a stupid thing to get that angry about but on the other hand Jones is a local boy so wearing that armband must mean a lot to him and he might not have too many more chances to captain his club, which must be something he's always dreamt of as a kid, even if it's just for a friendly match.

I think you’re right. Had he worn the armband he would have saved it and put it in a special place in his house probably framing it. As you said, it would have meant a lot to him.

Having said that

Curtis Jones has captained Liverpool. On February 5, 2020, he wore the armband and became the club's youngest-ever captain at 19 years and 5 days old during an FA Cup fourth-round replay victory against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield

Should have kept a united front in public

Put in a workplace context when a manager asks a junior manager to cover for him for 30 minutes and another thinks he should have done it... you'd call the lad in and tell him to grow up. That Jones did it on a world stage and made a prat of himself for all to see kinds sums the lad up. Not the brightest light on the Christmas tree.

I agree with Reg, hard to believe they are grown men tbh, talk about fvcking embarrassing. Thats the type of worries multi-millionaires have i guess, normal people are more concerned about keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table to get riled up about something like that.

2-0 up at HT Vs Leeds. Lots of energy about this performance. Ndukwe looks very confident I have to say.
Nyoni playing well, Isak looking fit, Frimpong full of running.
Rio though, I'm still not convinced at all by that kid. All fart and no splash.

Kerkez fcuked up for 2-1
It's been all Leeds the second half. I don't think Chiesa has touched the ball yet

Man I hope this is just a pre-season thing but conceding 4 goals to Leeds in a single half is definitely not a good sign.

I'm not making him the scapegoat, but Jones has to go. He's simply pi$$ poor, doesn't want to be there, it's blatantly obvious. He's not good enough, doesn't try, doesn't tackle, nothing.
Mind you, he's not the only one who hasn't turned up second half. Chiesa, Elliott, Tsimikas, Koumas, all brought nothing in the second 45

It was like a last season collapse. To be fair we put in our subs in the second half and they put in their starters, still…. No footballers want to lose whether preseason or not and it was a collapse!

Sky Sports' Sam Blitz:
"Look, it's pre-season. Liverpool and Leeds won't read too much into this.
"But there are concerns for Andoni Iraola at both ends of the pitch.
"Yes, Liverpool had a young team out by the time their collapse came but it was very much the story of last season. Two of Leeds' goals came from Ethan Ampadu's long throws, after they conceded 20 goals from set pieces in the Premier League last season, more than any other side.
"The goal that allowed Leeds back into the contest came from a Milos Kerkez mistake. Again, mistakes and uncertainty at full-back was another narrative that emerged last season.
"There were positives for Liverpool. Florian Wirtz looked sharp in his first 45 minutes back and Trey Nyoni looks like a real gem in the making. He can push Ryan Gravenberch for minutes this season.
"But once Wirtz and Alexander Isak came off at half-time, Liverpool never looked like scoring. With a big injury list at both ends of the pitch, Andoni Iraola has a lot of work to do to get ready for the season opener in under three weeks' time."

2nd half was a bad showing, mistakes and lack of squad depth.

We need to get used to the idea that this season is going to be a challenge, the transition to a new, young team who'll need time to mature and get used to the required standard to dominate games.

Looking back at the 2 years since Klopp left you have to wonder why the transition on the field was handled so badly. As I've said before, all we need is to bring in one top player per window to allow the side to roll from one generation to the next yet time and time again we wait until we hit crisis point then spend a fortune on players whether they're the right fit or not.

Yes, and this season we need a top defender in his prime
