LIVERPOOL v Galatasaray Wed 18.3.26 20:00

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Make or break for Slot and the team.
The crowd will be looking for passion knowing that on paper we shouldn't have problems dispatching Galatasaray.
Recent performances against Wolves, Spurs and the first leg in Turkey suggest it won't be straight forward so Slot must plan his substitutions to ensure we last the full 90+ minutes.

More worrying is the fact that we've only won 11 of the 33 games played since we beat Spurs to win the league last season.

Good luck Reds, PSG await us!  :buttrock

I've got mixed feelings about tonight's game.
Of course I want our lads to put in a performance and win the tie BUT does it really matter ?
There's no way we are good enough under Slott and the teams current dynamic to actually win the competition and a win tonight will only extend Slott's stay of execution.
Our focus should have been on ensuring CL qualification for the next term BUT ! Slotts tactics and team selection have put an almost guaranteed certainty for CL football next season into a very questionable position.
Sorry to say this but if we lose tonight means it's a nail in Slotts coffin as our manager I'm happy with that  :kungfu:

We're in the tough end of the draw, Arsenal got the easy end. We will have to fight this evening if we want to win.

Man I miss those European epic Anfiled nights. Anyhow let's see how we perform today, not hopeful, not confident and tbh not even really looking forward to it.

I think we will win tonight and go through. Given the pressure that he is under id expect us to go at them from the off and maintain it for 90 mins. No way can we approach this thinking we just have to show up.

                      Ali.

Frimpong.     Konate.      Virg.          Robbo.

                   Macca.        Grav.

I'd start with this team -

                                                    ALISSON

                    GOMEZ               IBOU          VIRGIL            KERKEZ

                                              DOM          GRAV

                  FRIMPONG                  WIRTZ                      RIO

                                                  HUGO

If he loses this tonight surely he's gone though saying that i'd rather stick with Arne than this Hoeness fella who's completely untested. Alonso achieved more than Hoeness in German football. Unai Emery did the same with Villa as he's done with Stuttgart but in a much tougher league. Just get Jurgen back if you cant get him get Xabi, no more Amorim next big thing on the continent types please.

Guess I'm not the only one nervous about not just the result but the performance tonight. I watched PSG and RM, and reluctantly the Ar$e last night, and our performances are a galaxy away from theirs. Those sides have a basic ability to defend. And defend well. They move the ball quickly from front to back. They threaten all the time.
Remember we used to be like that? Seems like a decade ago

This ref is already giving a lot of very easy decisions their way. Mind you we're not helping ourselves with daft needless fouls.
Need a very big game from Macca tonight. Need VVD to cop on to himself. Need Ibou to be awake. Need everyone to earn their ridiculous paychecks

Gotta say, Slot is embarrassing himself on the sidelines with his childish tantrums. What did he expect from this lot? Did he think he can influence the officials?

Sboz is a great striker of the ball, this year he’s taken it to another level. He’s really benefited from Trent leaving.

The way things have been, we need at least a 3 goal cushion

His reactions on the sidelines might be a bit ridiculous, but he's been emphasizing the fact that these like to dive and fake injury even before the game begun and I think it's had an effect. Ref still giving them some non-fouls but also denied them a good number of times and he's obviously aware of their diving tactics.
