Arne Slot

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I said back in March I don't like the style of footie Slot makes us play and in 6 months I've seen nothing to change my mind. He won the league with Klopps team, spent £450m and made us look like West Ham
Time to be looking around for a new manager in January if this continues before he gets us Europe Conference league football next season, at best!

Kinda feel that Slot lacks the critical element in creating change through believe that Jurgen had. Klopp got individuals to play way beyond their ability through character, Slot has overseen a total collapse where world class players dissolve under pressure.  The last rock bottom psychological melt down was in 2015 when we lost 5-0 to Stoke.

The reality of the current collapse is way beyond kicking a ball around the field, something is very, very wrong and needs urgent attention.

You only need to look at the body language of VVD and Mo to see all is not well in the dressing room.

I don’t buy that these two players are in a dramatic decline.

Something is going on behind the scenes.

Given our performances have been awful stretching right back to pre season i don't think he's got the foggiest idea what to do, i just think he's hoping a couple of players hit form at some point and maybe drag the rest along with them. All these coaches and analysts and computers and whatnot yet we're basically lighting candles, getting the rosary beads out and hoping for the best.
He's a nice/likeable fella but his crisis management is terrible, it's deer in the headlights stuff, instead of being pro-active and experimenting with formations and line up's trying to find a way out of this mess he's essentially doing the same things and picking the same players he was 3 to 4 months ago. Yesterday had more than a hint of waving the white flag about it.

It is like he jumped ship to Real this season and doesn't know how to manage galacticos. I honestly think his out depth, clueless if you ask me. Last season he calmed everything down a wee bit, gave "Klopps'" team more composure, settled Grav as DM. That is why we were good from Sept to Jan, also to add Salah was a fekin goal machine that period. After that we have been lacklustre, we were dropping points alongside City/Arsenal. Had they capitalised maybe the story would've been different.

When I currently look at us we don't look like a formidable side that would scare teams. 1-2 passes and we're sliced apart.

A good team has an identity, a way of playing, sadly we've none. Neither the lads and nor Slot has an idea of how we are meant to play. His first game, Carra told him how his worried about us being so open, that we'll concede more.

If Slot has the ability to fix this we would've seen some signs, we've seen fekin zilch. It is getting worse than better.

Villa, City and Real next, God forbid we lose all 3, but I wouldn't be surprised.

It feels like a long time since I've felt this sh11ty, I think since Brodge. Klopp era always bought hope even in our slump when we had no defenders, you still felt Klopp will get us out of it.
With Slot, I honestly don't fekin know...........

I remember when VVD got injured under Klopp we went on a terrible run breaking all sorts of bad records, we couldn’t buy a win. We ended up making CL with an injury time goal from Allison in the second to last game of the season.

I think things aren’t right within the team but we cannot discount the loss of Jota. Teams are like family and when someone dies at first you get amped up with energy then as time goes by and you settle into acceptance then you lose energy and get more depressed than when the person first died when you were basically in shock. Salah was good mates with Jota and being a religious man and 34 years old he must be going through a journey that’s bigger than football.

I think the loss of last year’s Gravenberch  is hurting us and why we are so weak in the middle of the park, along with the loss of form of MacAllister (who apparently is having personal drama) is why we are weaker this year. It’s a perfect storm all coming together but I’m not sure why people are turning on Slot, it’s so easy to say he won with Klopp’s team when Klopp wasn’t able to with the same team. People asking for the manager to be sacked is laughable and un Liverpool. Last year he managed rotation better than any manager and had us peaking at the right time. It clear something happened because teams don’t go from winning 5 in a row to losing 5 in a row unless something happened behind the scenes.

We need to keep faith that things will turn around.

Not sure hes entirely happy tbh. Minutes are getting restricted due to Slot trying to fit Wertz in. Maybe he needs a Hug!!

So we've lost 7 out of our last 10 games.. and 40% of our games since the loss to PSG last season.

That is inexcusable in my opinion.
I know we are so early in the season, but I've lost trust in Slot as the manager and Virgil as the captain. Its a mess, a big mess! I see players coasting with zero fight and neither Slot or VVD is firing the team up.

Something is very wrong. Body language, work rate and basic set up is all off.

Is it the new players?
Is it the new tactics?
Has the passing of Jota had a major impact on squad harmony?

Whatever the reason(s), it’s down to Slot to find a solution.

In my opinion, he deserves the full season to sort this out.

But if we slip into the bottom half of the table then the pressure will build at an alarming rate.

It’s the gutless performances that does my head in. And I do question if Slot has the answers to fix it.

But he has to be given time.

We've dropped 15 points from the last 6 games. We would be 19th if the season started 6 games ago. Our form is relegation standard.

We are not finding solutions to these defeats.

We have lost 40% of our games since March, that really is embarrassing for a club our size.

Slot lost his assistant from last year, I wonder is that has had an impact.

I don’t think the fat lady is singing just yet, but she’s certainly clearing her voice.

Come on Arne, lad. Sort this out.

I personally can't watch anymore of this downfall. I'd cling onto abit of hope if I saw some positives in these losses.. but its the same thing over and over, the same mistakes, the lack of energy, the lack of commitment.

Hes lost the dressing room.
