We win, but the scoreline papers over some serious cracks.

We need to sort the defending out. And ban any fan for life who hurls racist abuse to players.

Mo's tears saluting the Kop End's song for Diogo had me all teared up

4 forwards all scoring...4 defenders all had games they might want to forget

Looks like this is gonna be our theme for the season, unless we do something about it, fast!

We were missing Grav but defensively we defo look weak. We kinda saw it in pre season. I dont know if Gaehi will make a drastic difference but it will surely help.

Attacking wise though we look good, uptil his goal I thought Salah was poor. Adding Isak will definitely take our attack on another level. Eki played well and I liked how Sboz and Wirtz combined.

Chiesa the new Origi :D

Cracking game and great result at the end but game should have been over a lot sooner. Blowing a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth at home through not one but two counter attacks is a tactical problem IMO. Slot nearly screwed this one up with some questionable subs (Endo at RB?) and should not have allowed so many opportunities for Bournemouth to go on a counter.

Exciting game overall, a lot of positive early signs from some of the new players i.e. Ekitike but overall the team is very much a work in progress and will need smart management to make it work.

Look we have alot of new players still learning how we play and it's showing. The fitness levels also seem to be below par, alot of the lads were really blowing around the 60th min mark.

Im made up for Chiesa, he needed that moment for his career and for his confidence!

No idea why Szoboszlai was bombing forward every attack, he cost us on the first goal with the daft Cruyff flick.. and again on the 2nd racing ahead of the ball. We cant afford to be so open for that kind of counter attack, we really missed Gravenberch for that disciplined holder.

The 3 points is the important thing, 12 months ago we started with an unconvincing win at Ipswich and look at how things panned out. We do look a bit shaky at the back but at the same time Bournemouth are a good side, they'll give plenty of teams problems, not just us. Mark my words that's a tough fixture we've just got out of the way there.

I think Gravenberch makes us much stronger defensively, VVD and Konate had good years last year because of him. We will be better defensively when he comes back but Konate worried me yesterday and we need a solution to that. Happy for Mo to get a goal as we will need him and Ekitike looks like he’ll do well in this league. A big fast striker that is good on the ball with great movement off it  :buttrock

I like this new team and not sure we need Isak, seems like it will only cause a disruption. I think even though we have so many midfielders we need a replacement for  Gravenberch as last year showed we overplayed him.

I agree that we may not need Isak in particular and yes signing him may even end up causing a disruption, BUT we definitely do need at least one more decent forward. We sold 2 forwards and lost Jota and have only signed Ekitike. Apart from the 3 currently starting we don't have anyone else. I don't trust Elliot and Chiesa to be good enough when needed (if they even stay in the club) and we're obviously not looking to use Wirtz as a forward/winger. So we definitely need one more quality forward, doesn't have to be Isak though.

I know he’s only 16 but Rio looks good to gamble on as an option. He offers something no other player does so a true plan b when we play a team that will park the bus. Isak and Ekitike look similar. Rio seems more a Jota type that will hold the ball in tight spaces and at least get penalties.

Some good stats from VVD

"In what was his 235th Premier League appearance for the club, Van Dijk posted his best totals for both clearances (17) and headed clearances (14), and his joint-best for aerial duels won (12). He was the first player to post all those totals in a single Premier League match since Jan Vertonghen in December 2016, and the only Liverpool player Opta has on record to do so."
