Forget the tabloids.  Ask Jurgen, he's the Boss.

Think it was known that everyone is leaving along with Klopp since it was announced a few days ago. Still weird though.

Maybe Lijnders just wants a shot a managing a team and knows ( at this stage) at LFC it's not gonna be him ?

Also, without any more questions asked, it clears the decks for whoever comes in to appoint their own "boot room" team ?

I think Jurgen, Lijnders and others are doing what they think is right for themselves and the club by making the forthcoming transition as comfortable as possible for LFC.

Pep Lijnders, Jurgen Klopp's former right-hand man at Liverpool, is joining Manchester City. The former Kop coach, who was dismissed by Red Bull Salzburg in December after trying his hand as a No.1 in Austria, has agreed personal terms and will be joining Pep Guardiola's coaching team for the 2025-26 season.

WTF?
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Has anyone ever heard of another number 2 writing a book? A book outlining a team’s tactics? No? Neither have I. That was a massive red flag.

Not to mention his two spectacular fails in management. He’s no loss to us and I’d be surprised if he enhanced City. He’s now accepted he’s a number 2 and learning under Klopp then Guardiola can only help his career. Good luck to him, I really couldn’t care less.

He used to come across as a great fella, indeed i wanted him to take over when jurgen left but this City thing allied to stuff like him playing the role of the other woman when Jurgen and Zeljko parted company after 17 years and as JC pointed out him writing books and appearing on podcasts and his general fondness for the limelight even as a number 2 you can't help but think he's got a bit of the school sneak about him.

Manchester City are 'set to appoint a formerly key member of Arne Slot's Liverpool backroom staff', having already agreed a deal with Jurgen Klopp's ex-assistant Pep Lijnders.

Head of opposition analysis, James French, who had worked at Anfield for 13 years, is now join Liverpool's Premier League rivals to work closely with Pep Guardiola, according to the Athletic.

In a blow to the English champions, the Portuguese born member of the backroom team will work on set-piece coaching in addition to analysis at the Etihad. Mail Sport understands French had already left Liverpool and is a free agent.

French will be reunited with Lijnders, who he worked closely with on Merseyside during Klopp's tenure.

Liverpool now face the task of reshuffling their backroom staff, having already lost Slot's assistant John Heitinga to Ajax in the last week.

It is fascinating to see Guardiola target the staff of his former rival in Klopp as he aims to pick their brains for new tactical innovation and ideas.
