He'd be my player of the season, mainly because as good as Mo, Virgil, Ally etc were Ryan not only played well himself and was pretty much an ever present most importantly he solved a problem that had been plaguing us ever since Fab's form tanked in his last season with us.

Rumours will always circulate when a player is on form consistently. Apparently Real are keeping an eye on Grav. They could well and truly fek off. Hate that club with passion, hope we slap them in UCL.

Has signed a new 5 year (some saying 6) contract. Reports saying he'll be on around £280k per week, making him our 4th highest earner.

Thats a lot of money to be paying for an average player tbh. Szobozlai I could understand getting a deal like that because we could potentially sell him for mega bucks but cant see that with Grav.  Hes not a 6 and hes not a great 8 or 10 either. Hes been roaming into those positions a lot this season and personally I dont see him making a difference up there.  We will be stuck with him like Gakpo as they imo arent good enough to move to another club that pays that kind of wage.

I think he'll be a perfect fit for the Saudi retirement league. They'll pay the wages too.

I think thats a tadge harsh mate, he hasnt been at his best this year but that happens, Kenny Dalglish wasn't phenomenal every year, At 23 Ryan's still a young player and as long as he avoids serious injury he will improve. He'll be a better player at 26 than he is at 23.
The wages do seem high right now but he's locked into that wage right throughout his prime years, in 5 years time he'll still be on the same wage even if tons of new money floods into the game from emerging markets like the states where premier league footy is rapidly becoming the new rock and roll. I reckon the next 5 or 6 years will see Chinese billionaires getting involved in the game as well.
The other thing is long contracts stop Real Madrid in their tracks as well.

I think he was the reason we won the title last year and was the only real tweek to Klopp’s team that Slot made. Last year he was world class and while this year he has not been world class he has still been decent. His age, obvious quality and as Yakka said it’s a long contract so won’t seem so expensive in 4 years means it’s a good deal for the club.

The one thing thats guaranteed Yakka that if his profile raises he will want a pay raise to reflect that. Its hard to know whether he will go on to be a world class player either and it could be a case that last year was his best. I have seen both Utd and Chelsea giving big money to average players that they then get stuck with. Don't want to see that happen with us.

Im not saying hes a bad player either, just that I dont think hes worth that kind of money based on one season. Szob is our best mid by a country mile so giving Grav that will be used by Szobs agent to demand 350 or 400k a week for his player who shows up at gametime. Its a slippery slope.  Its like Diaz v Gakpo, one the club views as worth big money while the better player isnt.

He was one of the most important players last season. He looked focused, motivated and much improved from the season before. Unfortunately this season hes gone backwards. He looks unfit, tired, and unmotivated. He doesn't look nowhere near good enough this season.. and his place in the starting 11 is under real threat next season.
