Someone must be off then though. Origi for sure, but someone from Frimino/Mane/Salah must be leaving as well. There's no way we'll be playing next season with 5 high profile forwards, plus this Carvalho lad.

He’s like a two footed Coutinho and if he survived in the rough and tumble of the Championships he will benefit from PL ref protection

He's a 19 year old from the Championship who we're buying for £5mil plus £2.5mil of potential add-ons. He's not coming in to replace one of our big 5 and he isn't going to get loads of game time next season. Origi is off on a bosmon so that just leaves Minamino who may want to leave for regular football which would be a shame as he's been great in our cup runs.

In recent weeks there have been reports in France that we have an interest in bringing in Aurelien Tchouameni this summer. Could just be agent talk but it's now also being mentioned by the reputable journalists in the UK who report on the club. I think Ox will want to move on as he hasn't played much despite being fit for 18 months so this would fill that gap and also provide contingency planning for Henderson as he enters the final years of his career. Tchouameni does seem like hot property so no doubt we'd have plenty of competition if we are interested.

Report: Liverpool Contact Aurelien Tchouameni Over Summer Transfer | Jurgen Klopp 'Loves' The Player

Whilst Jurgen Klopp is preparing his Liverpool side for (another) Champions League semi-final, reports have come out of France stating that Liverpool have made initial contact with AS Monaco midfielder, Aurélien Tchouaméni, according to French football reporter Santi Aouna.

The 22-year-old dynamic midfield man is reportedly ready to leave Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in the summer, and with his contract expiring in 2024, The Monégasques may want to cash in on the youngster, valued at around £42million, whilst interest in him is at it's peak.

Tchouaméni is also a subject of interest for Real Madrid but reports are suggesting the Spanish giants have turned their midfield attentions to the development of current youngsters Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.

With the assumed arrival of Kylian Mbappe this summer too, they may have their attention elsewhere during this upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United has also been rumoured to be in for the Frenchman, which again signals his intention to move this summer.

Whilst only 'initial contact has been made it is the first sign of what could be a busy summer for Liverpool as they seek to add more quality to their midfield.

Who is Aurélien Tchouaméni?

The former Bordeaux man arrived at Monaco for a fee of around £16m in January 2020 and has been a first-team regular and revelation ever since in the central midfield position.

Deployed more often than not as a holding midfielder, playing there 43 times this season for Monaco, Tchouaméni also has the skillset to be more mobile in a central midfield role.

He offers dynamism with his dribbling skills and boasts a confidence and willingness to shoot in the advanced positions we sometimes see Naby Keita and Thiago in.

In fact, Tchouaméni finds himself in the 88th percentile vs other midfielders and averages just over a shot a game; he has found the back of the net once this season and has an assist to his name too.

Defensively he poses an impressive resumé: he successfully tackles and intercepts on average three times a game in order to break down transitions and play, but he is also an assured ball carrier and progressive passer.

Standing at over six feet tall, he is a beast in the air and is seen somewhat as an aerial specialist. Liverpool is lethal at set-pieces and Tchouaméni could find himself adding to the current mix of aerial threats already at Anfield.

The Monaco man's impressive form has resulted in finding himself being called up for the French national team, featuring eight times and scoring once for Les Bleus.

The midfield maestro may want to establish himself at a higher profile club such as Liverpool in order to secure his selection for the upcoming World Cup.

Liverpool's Midfield Conundrum: Tchouaméni To Choose From?

The Reds are currently well stacked in midfield, but this may not be the case when it comes to the summer transfer window.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's minutes have all but diminished this season, with youngsters Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones seemingly above him in the Liverpool pecking order, not to mention Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, and Thiago Alcantara.

The England international may find his quest for first-team football is elsewhere as he searches for more minutes in the Premier League in his prime years.

James Milner is the veteran of the Liverpool group and whilst he is effective at what he does, and will no doubt go down as one of the greatest Bosman signings in Premier League history, he now often plays just a cameo role for the Reds. Milner's contract is expiring this summer so he too could find his football away from Anfield.

This would leave at least two holes in the midfield and no one really to stand in should the ex-Monaco man Fabinho be out long term, as discussed on The Room podcast this week.

Could Tchouaméni be the player to not only fill that void, but also be the one to establish himself in the Liverpool midfield long term after the likes of Thiago (31) and Henderson (31) leave Merseyside too?

It is getting to that time of the season where links to Liverpool are going to become more frequent, this is a transfer that makes absolute sense for all parties involved and one in which that would be an exciting addition for Jurgen Klopp's Reds.

Looks like Tchouameni has chosen Madrid over us for £80m+ add ons. Its frustrating because they spent all their time trying to sign Mbappe and Mbappe only.. how can Tchouameni feel wanted after they came out publicly and said Mbappe is the only player we want, and we won't be signing any midfielders.
He's a good player, and Klopp would make him world class, but he's chosen money, and the glam lifestyle so good riddance to him.. hope he ends up on the bench wasted like Camavinga.

Looks like we'll be looking at PSVs Sangare who is a similar player but abit less defensive than Tchouameni. They are similar builds so I'm guessing Klopp wants some strength in the midfield next season.

Rumours on Nunez going around that were aiming to bid..

Perfect player we need, 22 years old potential sky high. However, price maybe an issue as his value is 85m.

Darwin Núñez: Benfica want £85m for Liverpool target

Paul Joyce, Northern Football Correspondent
Wednesday June 08 2022, 9.00am, The Times

Liverpool have been told it will take a club-record fee of about £85 million to prise the Uruguay striker Darwin Núñez from Benfica.

Núñez is on Jürgen Klopp’s wanted list this summer as he looks to reshape his attack in the likely event of Sadio Mané’s departure to Bayern Munich and the uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s long-term future.

The 22-year-old scored home and away against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on the way to a tally of 34 goals in 41 appearances last season for the Portuguese side.

Benfica will look to sell high if they lose him and are seeking €100 million (about £85 million) for the player they signed from Almeria for €24 million in 2020. Almeria will receive 20 per cent of any profit Benfica make on the transfer.

Liverpool’s transfer record is the £75 million they paid for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

The Anfield club have not made a bid at this stage and will continue to look at other targets, but the possibility of moving to Merseyside and working with Klopp will appeal to Núñez.

Before Benfica’s 3-3 draw at Anfield in April, Klopp spoke about the forward and said: “Extremely good looking boy, huh? And a decent player as well. Really good, really good. I knew before, of course, but he played pretty much in front of me with his tough battles with Ibrahima Konaté.

“He was physically strong, quick, was calm around his finish. Good, really good. I always say in these situations if he is healthy, it’s a big career ahead of him.”

In the game in front of The Kop, Núñez played the first half as a central striker before moving onto the left wing where he combined threat with work rate.

Manchester United have also shown interest in Núñez, but Liverpool will not get drawn into a bidding war.

The interest comes with Mané having resisted contract talks to remain at Liverpool in favour of moving to Bayern. A £21 million bid was rejected at the end of last week for the Senegal international, who has a year remaining on his contract, and the onus is on Bayern to return with an improved bid.

Discussions have been taking place with Salah for much of the past year, but no agreement has been reached with the Egypt striker, who is also out of contract in 2023

This one is gathering pace with a guaranteed fee of 80m EUROS (£68m) + 20m EUROS (£17m) in potential add-ons reported to have been agreed.

Certainly looked the part against us in the 2 Champions League games. Gave plenty of problems to our CBs with his aggression and looked clinical in and around the box.

A front 3 of Diaz, Salah, and Nunez sounds frightening. If Salah keeps focused and gives 100% this season we should have a good chance of once again challenging on all fronts.

Wasn't expecting much buisness happening with the attackers, but we had no option after the Mane Bombshell.

I think we still need some upgrades in midfield... Carvalho is a good signing especially for the price, but I think we need a Bellingham type of signing who'll slot straight into the first 11.

Mirror says we agreed 7 million per year which is about 130k per week. Well under the wage structure and with an ability to raise his salary if they renew his contract. If true it’s a good deal for us.

If only there was a positive resolution with Salah contract,

What a front three we potentially could have.
