Apparently we might get a chance to offload Origi within the next week as the Turkish window is still open. If the lad has any ambition to still be a footballer then he should take it. He isnt good enough for us and is just rotting away what's left of his career here.

Normally I would be against seeing a player leave without a chance to replace him but chances are that he wont play anyway and we could line up something with the money for January the 1st.

I do be puzzled reading half of this stuff. He was a massive failure here and an accident waiting to happen everytime he was on the pitch. He clearly wasnt a Klopp player either but yet he was offered a new deal that thankfully he declined.

Good news for Naby. He has reportedly left Guinea and is on a flight back.

We stopped Ali and Fab from going to Brazil and they ain't happy about it. Apparently they can apply to FIFA and get the players banned from playing for their clubs for 5 days. It would rule both of them out of the Leeds and CL opener midweek.

Think we had a really good genuine reason to stop them from travelling and it would be just petty from Brazil if they tried to get FIFA to act.

After the embarrassment of what happened during the Brazil v Argentina game, I'm pretty sure the Brazilian FA will prefer to keep their heads down...

South Americans also have qualifier games on Friday (Thursday for them but still), about 36 hours before league games start in Europe, which is beyond ridiculous. Europeans playing today only 2 days before league games start is stupid enough, but South Americans are on a different level stupid. There were obviously more than one reason we didn't let our players go play for them.

And why have some countries played three games instead of two? Thankfully most of our players have only played one or two games but Robbo for example has played three full games.

Bit of a scare with Virgil last night, knock to his ankle by all accounts, apparently he's said he's already over it though!

Fabinho, Firmino and Alisson banned after all, along with 5 other Brazilians from the PL. Bunch of *****, especially after the farce in their game with Argentina.

So the Brazilian FA punish the players that don't travel for these games, and then punish those who do by reporting them? Incredible.

Yeah it's a joke of a situation. I think they just got the players who didnt show up banned, All except for the bitter who was exempt because they let him go to the Olympics. Its petty stuff really. All should be available for Milan midweek though so at least it's only 1 game.

What is with these Jude Bellingham links  Hes had one season in the championship and one with Dortmund but now hes reportedly worth 80mil  55 mil of that is because he is english imo. For that kind of money you have to get a leader that walks straight into the team and no way is that lad going to do that.

There is only 5 teams in each group. In the October matches Robbo will play 2 and the others 3.  Providing Scotland doesnt line up a friendly instead of it

This is interesting from Neil Jones who reports on the club and is very reliable. I do remember that press conference before the Leeds game last season when Klopp was talking up Bamford. And with only 12 months on his contract, it seems Jurgen sounded him out about a move in the summer. But Bamford didn't fancy coming in to be 5th choice and instead signed a 5 year contract with Leeds. Something that people never really consider when demanding the club strengthen is that a lot of players just aren't going to fancy coming in behind our established 4 attackers. Bamford would have been interesting one though. A home grown player who has a great work-rate and has really found himself as a goal scorer in the last couple of years.

Also a mention in the article that we turned down an approach from Leeds to take Curtis Jones on loan.

'What a player!' Why Liverpool boss Klopp considered signing Leeds striker Bamford

The 28-year-old caught the Reds boss' eye last season, and won his first senior England cap against Andorra during the recent international break

There are few things Jurgen Klopp enjoys more than a good footballing story and, in Patrick Bamford, the Liverpool boss has found a particular favourite.

“What a player!” was Klopp’s assessment of the Leeds striker before his Reds side visited Elland Road back in April.

Known as a manager who backs the underdog, who believes in narrative and romance, the German has been taken by the 28-year-old’s rise to prominence in West Yorkshire.

That rise continued during the international break, with Bamford handed his first senior England cap in the World Cup qualifying win over Andorra.

You could say it’s been a long time coming, reward for three seasons of stellar form under Marcelo Bielsa, where he has been transformed from a talented-but-inconsistent frontman into one of the Premier League’s most reliable No.9s.

So reliable, in fact, that Liverpool actually explored the idea of signing the former Chelsea man earlier this year.

Their interest never went far – Bamford was not especially enthused by the idea of being fifth-choice at Anfield, and in any case was ready to sign a new five-year deal at Leeds – but it was genuine. Klopp is a fan, and so are his recruitment team.

"He's an exceptional player,” Klopp said in April. “The work-rate is outstanding, and he still plays the football he plays on top of that, and scores goals. That's rare.”

The Reds boss remembers driving into training one morning last September and listening to a debate on talkSPORT which made him shake his head.

“They were saying that Leeds need a proper goalscorer, Bamford is not good enough, stuff like this,” Klopp grinned. “I'm so happy that he could prove them all wrong!”

Prove them wrong he most certainly has. Having scored 16 goals as Leeds were promoted from the Championship in 2019-20, Bamford followed that up with 17 in the top-flight last season, his most prolific campaign since he was at Middlesbrough in 2014-15.

That year at the Riverside Stadium was one of seven loan spells Bamford, who made his professional debut as an 18-year-old at Nottingham Forest, had during five years at Chelsea.

He did well at Boro, as he had at MK Dons and Derby, but he struggled to make an impact when asked to prove himself in the Premier League. Stints at Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley brought 19 appearances and no goals.

His time at Burnley was particularly difficult, with Sean Dyche at one point accusing him of being “born with a silver spoon in his mouth.”

That perception of Bamford – false, as it turns out – appears to stem from his upbringing, which is seen as something of an anomaly among top-level English players.

He was privately educated and was offered a place at Harvard University. He is erudite and eloquent, plays the violin and comes from an ostensibly middle-class family.

That, wrongly, has led to questions about his motivation and hunger, whether he has, to coin an antiquated footballing phrase, “the fire in his belly” to make it at the highest level.

One of Dyche’s complaints, for example, was that Bamford arrived to sign his loan deal at Burnley accompanied by his parents.

Quite why that would irk the Clarets boss so much is unclear, but it will certainly have pleased Bamford that he was able to score Leeds’ equaliser at Turf Moor prior to the international break – especially since he also netted the winner against Dyche’s men at Elland Road last season.

Revenge, as they say, is a dish best served cold.

Liverpool, too, know how dangerous Bamford can be. His first Premier League goal for Leeds came at Anfield on the opening weekend of last season, when he took advantage of a rare Virgil van Dijk error.

The pair will be reacquainted this weekend, as Klopp’s side look to continue their solid start, while Bielsa’s seek their first win of the campaign.

It promises to be a raucous atmosphere at Elland Road, and Bamford will have fresh support in the shape of Daniel James, the Wales international having moved from Manchester United on deadline day.

He might not have been the only new arrival, either. Goal has learned that Victor Orta, Leeds’ sporting director, contacted Liverpool to enquire about the possibility of signing midfielder Curtis Jones on loan.

Understandably, he was given short shrift.
Jones has a battle on his hands to gain a place in Klopp’s squad, where midfield competition is fierce, but he remains very much a part of the Reds’ plans.

That said, had the prospect of Bamford been on the table when Orta called, the conversation might have lasted a little longer...

Probably was half interest at best as he is the same rough age (or stage of development) as our forwards and would have replaced Origi who is younger. Surely a fifth striker would have been a young hot prospect that the club would have really chased. By 28 Bamford should be world class if  he ever was going to get there and he is not even close. From his point of view it would have been hard to get a game so it was clearly best for his career.

Sad to hear of the passing of Jimmy Greaves, he was the greatest striker to ever lace up a pair of boots in this country.

Liverpool ‘reach agreement’ with Brighton for first signing of 2022
by footballmediawatch | Posted on September 27, 2021
Liverpool are reportedly closing in on their first signing of 2022 after the club agreed a fee with Brighton for midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The Mali international was in and out of the team at Brighton under previous manager Chris Hughton but he has been an important part of Graham Potter’s side over the past year or so.

Bissouma – who declared himself as the best midfielder in the league recently – had a brilliant season in 2020/21, making 35 Premier League appearances as Brighton comfortably survived relegation.

If Brighton beat Crystal Palace on Monday they will go top of the Premier League and Bissouma has once again been a key part of that success.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all linked with the 25-year-old in the last six months.

And now Spanish publication Fichajes claims that Liverpool ‘have already closed’ a deal to bring him to Anfield in 2022.

It is claimed that Liverpool ‘needs a series of reinforcements’ with a new central midfielder at the top of their wishlist.

The Liverpool recruitment team are ‘working to close a series of’ deals to boost Jurgen Klopp’s squad and ‘have reached an agreement’ to sign Bissouma.

The report adds that Liverpool will pay around £30m for the Brighton midfielder, which seems a little cheap, although that figure has been mooted before.

Arsenal have also been linked and their former player Ray Parlour reckons Bissouma would be a brilliant signing for the Gunners.

“I would love to see (Bissouma) at Arsenal, I said that in the transfer window,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“I think he’s got everything. He’s efficient, he can put his foot on the ball, can put his foot in as well, can pass. He probably could score a few more goals but he’s not in that position to score goals. He’s the one who’s going to keep everything ticking over.

“I’m sure Brighton had to sell one of their players and it was Ben White in the end for £50million. But I think he’s going to be a top star. He’s only 25 so there’s lots of time as well.”
