Eto'o wants 135k a week FFS!!! NOOOOOOOO!  :censored:

Liverpool are set for a second round of talks with striker Samuel Eto’o after disagreements with the former Chelsea star over his wage packet, according to reports.

The Reds are keen to sign the 33-year-old – who left Stamford Bridge after one season this summer – to help ease the pressure of Luis Suarez’s £75m sale to Barcelona.

However, Eto’o has told the Merseyside club that he wants weekly wages of £135,000-a-week if he is to consider moving to Anfield.

The 2013/14 Premier League runners-up are less keen on that proposal and instead want to offer a smaller wage, but with more performance related add-ons, in the Cameroon international’s one-year deal.

Yet with Ajax, Everton and West Ham United all keen on securing Eto’o’s signature, there is every chance the forward could bypass Brendan Rodgers’ men if his demands are not met.

The African arrived in English football last summer from Anzhi Makhachkala, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances for the Blues in all competitions before a public falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.

The way we play and the chances we create, all Eto'o needs to do is bang in the goals, and he's one of the best at doing that. If he can score 9 goals out of 21 league games for the super defensive minded Chelsea, he can easily score 14-15 goals for us...

this lad is a founding father in the term mercenary  :nod
i think it sucks that we are even being linked with him with so much time remaining in the window. if this deal was pushed through in desperation in the final hours then id understand. we have already got our quota with overaged striker in lambert and the last thing we need is another.
we have had more than enough time in this window to come up with something better than this  :nod

But what's the alternative? Bony?

out of the thousands of strikers in world football i would be peeved if we ended up with bony. don't get me wrong he isnt the worst player but is far from the best.
we have been linked this summer with a lot of players. on one hand we have lovren, lallana, markovich, lambert and moreno who we have been chasing since before the W.C. we launched bids spoke with players etc, to me that signals real intention to sign them. on the other hand we have sanchez, cavani, falcao, benzema, di maria who we also reportedly tried to sign. they are 2 different levels of quality players and yet we seem to break our backs trying to sign from the first pool while we make reported enquiries for the top tier. we dont chase the higher quality players with the same tenacity. a phone call to a club or agent enquiring about a players wage or contract to me is not proper interest. my local club isnt even fully pro but yet they have every right to ring barca and ask about messi, does that mean they are seriously interested in him  :D
with so much time passed since suarez went and with the time thats left, for it to be a toss up between bony and eto is just shocking. every single player brendan has brought in here are the same players he would have brought into swansea despite having a better pull with the name of L.F.C backing him up.

I think we missed out big time on Mario Mandzukic and also Griezmann .

Petr Cech could be leaving , i see no harm on trying to put a cheeky bid in .

Mandzukic would have beena shout. Couldn't have just stumped up the cash for Costa last summer could we?

I'll see how this plays out but I'm not optimistic. That said, leaking goals was the bigger concern last season and I can at least say that's been addressed

Greavsie mate it was nothing to do with not stumping up the cash fro Costa last summer.

We met his release clause and he wasn't interested.

I'm not convinced Costa is top drawer myself, he looked awful at the WC.
If those reports about Eto'o's wage demands are true then I'd rather keep Borini than pay that type of money to a striker regarded by Mourinho as over the hill.

I'm not too excited about the Cavani rumors. Good player but overrated I think. Not worth the rumored fee.

Madzukic for 20 million is a good shout but we should have thought about that sooner.

If Real sign Falcao, I don't see a reason why they'd say no to an offer for Benzema. I wouldn't sign him if they ask for too much though.

I think we've had an OK transfer window so far, I hope we don't f*ck it up completely with our (probably) last signing.

Arsenal apparently interested in Eduardo Vargas. If he linked up with Sanchez they will cause a lot of damage.

Don't see why we don't put our hands up as he is worth a punt at this stage in his career.

I have seen enough (from all of Chile's games) to know that Rodgers could get the best out of him and make him an EPL star.

Interwebs going crazy at the moment, Eto'o arrival now imminent on Merseyside before the season kicks off.

Personally I would rather have him then no striker at all, looks like this has all come about because anyone who is anyone out there has told us bugger off.........

LFC have not made an offer to Eto’o. His age and his wage demands means they are currently pursuing other more attractive options.
They would only look to Eto’o in the closing days of the window if their striker search has been unsuccessful. (Liverpool Echo)
