RBG - I'll have to agree to disagree on United's signings, time will tell.

I'm sorry mate but I'm no happy clapper, our performance in the transfer market has been very poor recently, we have spent tens of millions on players and seen most of that investment sitting on a bench or out on loan. I find it frustrating beyond belief that after finishing second and qualifying for the CL we seem to be going down the same road of spending millions upon millions on players that are no better than the players we already have at the club.
Spending £40m on Bony and Lovren would be a perfect example of that.
These people that you put so much faith in are the ones who studied the likes of Aspas and Cissokho and deemed them good enough for us.
And as for calling United out for signing the likes of Shaw, Herrera and Di Maria when we are looking at signing the likes of Bertrand, Lovren and Davies is almost comical IMO.

He'd be a lot cheaper and a better back up option than Bony, having a £20m player sitting on the bench for large parts of the season would be ludicrous.
Re Lovren, James Pearce of the Echo has said that he's still our number one target and the club are aware that eyebrows have been raised amongst the fan base but Brendan thinks Lovren is a an 'organiser' and the type of vocal centre half that we need. Plausible I suppose, we did look all over the shop at times last season.

that would make sense, if this Lovren lad has a voice on him and get us into shape at the back.

Pretty much deja vu with some of yous here. Way over the top negativity exactly like last summer. Pretty hypocritical praising Man United signings as well. I can absolutely bet my ***** that most of you haven't even heard of Herrera, never mind seen him play. Our signings and targets aren't nearly as bad as some of you make them to be. The only thing that should be worrying is how good Arsenal are doing. If they snap up Khedira as well, a player that would significantly improve us, I'd be slightly disappointed. But I've been worried about Arsenal before.

Lets talk about the players we have actually signed and thats Lambert, Can and Lallana.

4 million for Lambert is an amazing deal
25 for Lallana is a little overpriced
and I am not really sure how good can is.

We will need to improve further and NOONE knows what the club has in their plans remember we have only just sold Suarez today.

Apparantly Sanchez told us to f*ck off which means the club was wiolling to spend money on a big player.

United have lost their Captain and Evra will go to juventus. Noone knows how their signings will bed in, Look at fellaini.

On to the rumours.

Markovic looks great and if we can bring him in then we would be moving in the right direction. A CB is needed and unless we are looking at the likes Pique or kompany then i dont know too many CBs that are as good as Lovren, Although i would prefer Vlaar.

Ben Davies rumours will turn out just to be that.

We have been linked with Balotelli, Muller etc this summer and we have seen nothing come of it lets treat these rumours as they are just rumours

Another Chelsea cast off and he's worn a blue shirt but...

...Anyone reckon we should go for Lukaku?

Lukaku could be a good bit of business. My concern would be that chelsea wouldn't want to sell to rivals, and every decent player they've sold recently seems to have gone for crazy money. Mata and Luiz went for way more than they were worth.

He may be too similar a player as Lambert as well.

Lukaku would be a great signing, agree though that Chelsea would be unlikely to sell him to us  :(

Ronald Koeman has insisted that Southampton have no intention of selling Dejan Lovren or Morgan Schneiderlin, despite speculation linking the pair with summer moves.

Southampton recently rejected a 20 million pound Liverpool bid for Lovren, while Schneiderlin has been regularly linked with Tottenham and Arsenal.

However, new Saints boss Koeman said that after selling Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw, he was not planning for any more departures.

"We said: 'Okay, this is it - we are not a selling club.' The players have contracts. We don't sell any more players and we will try keep to that," Koeman said.

"We sold three players -- that's good enough money. Now we will keep the rest and we will continue with what we did last season.

"I know Liverpool have a lot of money and they will spend that money and maybe they want to buy a player from Southampton.

"But as manager of Southampton I have to do everything to keep those players. The final decision is with the board."

Lovren had spoken in the Croatian press about his desire to move to Anfield, saying he was concerned that Southampton were showing a lack of ambition, but is due to return to the south coast on Sunday.

Koeman said: "I spoke to Dejan twice and he was very clear about his situation. I want to keep all the good players - I want to keep Dejan in the team because he is an important player.

"We have to do what the best is for the club. He has a contract, he has to come back this Sunday but I don't know what will happen after this. It's football and there is a lot of movement, but first of all we like to keep all that information in the club and not in the press.

"That was not a good thing from his side - I wasn't happy with his comments in the press. That is not good for the club, for the rest of the players or for himself, and we will speak about whether to fine him or not."

Tottenham will not give up on Wilfried Bony without a fight.

Sportsmail revealed Liverpool's interest in the Swansea striker following Barcelona's move for Luis Suarez and talks are ongoing.

However, Tottenham are ready to offer £18million for the Ivory Coast international.

They believe Bony is not Liverpool's first choice with manager Brendan Rodgers also interested in QPR striker Loic Remy among others.

Tottenham want Bony after being rebuffed in soundings over Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku and will make their move having already spoken to Swansea about a possible exchange involving Gylfi Sigurdsson and left-back Ben Davies.

The tangled web should unwind next week as the bids go in.

Liverpool are looking to sign Loic Remy.

The Premier League runners-up have contacted Queens Park Rangers over discussing a possible deal, the Metro reports.

Remy was believed to be close to signing for Arsenal but Liverpool are eyeing him to replace Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez.

The 27-year-old, who had a successful loan spell at Newcastle United last season, is the latest name to be linked with both Premier League giants.

Serge Aurier and Jackson Martinez have also been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium and Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers is hoping he can persuade Remy to link up with other new faces at Liverpool. He has already brought Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Adam Lallana to Merseyside.
