Swansea are pi$$ed  :eyebrow

Liverpool slammed by Huw Jenkins for moving for Wilfried Bony without permission as Reds look to trigger £19m release clause

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is upset to have heard that Liverpool are talking to Wilfried Bony without making an official approach to the Welsh club first.

It is understood that representatives of the player and Liverpool have met to sound out if Bony, who moved to Swansea from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for £12million last summer, is interested in a move.

But Jenkins told Sportsmail: 'I have no idea about that. The only thing I'd say is I'm completely unaware of contact between Liverpool and myself.

'I was very surprised to hear and disappointed to hear that Liverpool had gone down that route and were talking to the player behind behind my club's back. I'm disappointed that Liverpool are acting in that manner. No official approach has been made to me or our football club.'

It is understood that Bony has a £19m release clause and is keen on a move to the Merseyside club.

The 25-year-old wants to leave Swansea but is eager to stay in the Barclays Premier League and join a club who will be playing Champions League football next season.

Bony scored twice in three games for Ivory Coast as they made a surprise exit from the World Cup in the group stage after conceding a stoppage time goal against Greece in their last game.

He scored 25 goals in 49 matches in all competitions for Swansea in his first season in the Premier League. The 17 goals he netted in the top flight made him joint-fourth top goalscorer alongside Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero.

Liverpool are keen to bring in a replacement for Luis Suarez, who is on the verge of a move to Barcelona. But Swansea are still intent on keeping hold of the striker.

Jenkins added: 'That's always a priority to keep hold of your best players.'

I think Van Gaal now being the manager there has a massive factor on the caliber of players that the clubs now attracting.. especially after the WC and how he got Holland to the semi final.

Brendan was and still is a relatively unknown manager in world football which goes against us buying the elite players IMO.

Yet who have the Mancs actually signed RBG?

So far they've spunked nearly 30mil on a Spaniard not good enough for their WC squad.

People need to stop getting their y-fronts in a twist about what other clubs are doing.

I think we're all more than aware that the quiff is now their manager ,I meant, shouldn't Liverpool be using the fact we have Champions League football to tempt said
players to join us ?

United's 2 decades of dominance won't fade from people's memories in one season mate, it was in the Echo the other day that Adidas are on the verge of signing a huge new sponsorship deal with them worth £60m (sixty million!) a year, apparently United asked their current sponsors Nike if they wanted to match that offer and they declined.
That £60m is from just one of their deals and they've got over a 100 sponsorship/partnership/endorsement agreements of one kind or another with companies all over the world. Add to that their huge merchandising enterprise and the Sky tv money and they are quids in.
United have the financial clout to buy their way back to the top just as City and Chelsea have done. It might take them a couple of seasons but they'll be back up there.
The sickening thing is that circa 1990 there was hardly anything in terms of wealth and size between us and them, it's just that their 'glory' days just happened to coincide with money flooding into the game. We just fell apart at the wrong time.

Stopped wearing Y fronts when I was eight lad  :D Herrera is a quality midfielder mate ,Shaw is a very good young defender ,and if as reported they procure
Di Maria ....Then your argument could be dead in the water by Monday lad ,needless to say this is the first time I've mentioned United ,but its good to know
posters are waiting to read such a faux pas to trot out that familiar party line ,Its the transfer season fella ,we all worry about what other clubs are doing  :;):

I know mate ,but wouldn't you think with the offer of Champions League football next season we could disrupt some of these negotiations ,and maybe turn the
players head towards opting for us instead ?

Di Maria is overrated and so is Shaw.

Herrera is a bit of an unknown (or lesser known) quantity but they've spent massive money on him.

So I'll say it again.... untwist your y-fronts... lad.

£19m on a player that won't even be in our starting XI if Sturridge is fit? unfortunately history looks to be repeating itself i.e  we finish second and make a complete pigs breakfast of the following summer.
I've totally lost faith in this transfer committee, we signed 3 CB's last year for near £30m and now 12 months later we are on the verge of forking out another £20m on an average centre half. That will be £50m spent in a calendar year on CB's and our defence will be no better.
We lose the third best player in the world and then sign two strikers for £25m who aren't good enough to get in the starting XI when everyone is fit.
Every time the transfer window opens it's the same story.

Interesting, what's your opinion on Bertrand, Bony, Davies and Lovren?
Top players no doubt.

We disagree fella, I think we should at the very least be seen shopping in the right stores ,instead of hiding in the relative and familiar comfort of Matalan
As for your obsession with Y fronts ,I really cant help you there ,may I suggest you pick up a copy of Kays catalogue circa 77 if that's what floats your boat.

Yakka you are a broken record these days mate. You've gone from a sensible poster to a fking whinge. It's tedious.

RBG - I'll have to agree to disagree on United's signings, time will tell.
