As a LFC supporter for the past 43 years it pains me to see a player with the caliber of Luis leave but we cannot blame him for his decision. every player will only play for themself as will the club making all their decisions to be commercially successful both on and off the pitch. the game has been tainted with a lot of oil money and business people and unfortunately we just have to live with it.

While I agree with that sentiment in fairness to the players it isn't a one way street. How many players go through a lean stretch or return from injury and get lambasted by so call fans wanting instant success. You only have look at how many people were quite happy to sell a class act like Xabi Alonso after he had one injury hampered poor season to bring in Barry

Selling Alonso was a huge mistake and it has got to do with Rafa's ego... we have yet to successfully replaced him till today. Was surprised with those "fans" who had a go after a so-so half season before he left.

I hoped Brendan will have more patience with class act like Continho and not try to replace him with some lesser players

It is going to be difficult to replace a player that had a hand in 50 goals and is responsible for half of the teams goals. Also Suarez is a winner and they don't come around too often but last year's Spurs form worries me as it was a clear lesson as they got worse after Bale left. The difference perhaps is Rodgers got us to where we were and AVB inherited his team so I don't think we will suffer as Spurs did, whether we win the PL is dependant on how our younger players step up despite who we bring in. We were better without Suarez last year than Spurs were without Bale the year before and the way we play is so attacking that we will always create chances but having said that losing Bale showed how important losing one player can be.

Liverpool have built around Suarez and catered to his every whim but Barcelona will not. The team is built around Messi and he will have to be a supporting player and Barcelona fans do not give unconditional support as we do so he will no doubt come out years later and talk about how he never found that level of support again. The Spanish look down on South Americans where as we see them as exotic. Not many players improved when  they left us, I don't think he will either. I think last year was the best he will ever be as frankly it was unreal. Cashing in now is probably the best thing for us for the long term.

cardiff-red » Wed Jul 02, 2014 10:40 am wrote:Liverpool and Barcelona are understood to be £20million apart as they begin transfer talks over Luis Suarez .

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre is meeting a Barcelona delegation, led by technical director Raul Sanllehi, in London today to discuss Suarez's move to the Nou Camp.

Liverpool value Suarez at £80million because they feel he has proved he is one of the world's best strikers with his 31 Premier League goals last season .

Barcelona feel that figure is too high because of his four-month ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini and they will argue the striker is worth £60million.

The Catalans want to include Alexis Sanchez in the deal and they value the Chile World Cup forward at £32million.

Although both sides are willing to do a deal, Suarez's valuation could prove to be a major sticking point.

Liverpool feel they are in a strong bargaining position because Suarez signed a new long-term deal earlier this year and because Barcelona are so keen to sign him.

Barcelona feel Liverpool's position has been weakened because of his ban and the fact the player wants to leave.

Sanchez is another complication and while Liverpool want him and Barcelona are happy to include him in any deal, the South American is not keen on moving to Anfield.

He would prefer to stay at the Nou Camp and has told friends he would rather join Arsenal if he does go.

Liverpool will demand a straight £80million cash deal if Sanchez refuses to come to Anfield, which Barcelona are unwilling to pay.

What is clear is that Liverpool want to resolve the situation quickly and they do not want another summer saga over Suarez's future hanging over their pre-season preparations.

If they are so worried about the ban then we can sell him to them in the winter for 80 million, sorted!

Unless of course he bites someone else.

So, if Barca refuse to stump up the £80million, then LFC can say "Righto Carlos, on your bike. See you next year", and tell Luis to settle in, cos he's going nowhere, right?

Are there any circumstances which could force through the sale, even if Barca don't come up with an acceptable offer?
God, I really hope LFC aren't lubing themselves up for a damn good shafting here.

Oh we will undoubtably get shafted on this deal, you can see it coming a mile off.
Look how Luis carried on last summer when we wouldn't let him go to Arsenal, every time he came within 6 foot of a microphone he started calling Rodgers a liar and the club a shower of ****s (not to mention the gob on him at Melbourne).
That was over Arsenal, can you imagine the carry on out of him if we put the kibosh on a move to Barcelona?
Barcelona are bound to play on that to get the price down.

I actually think that if the club wants to keep Suarez they can. I don't think that the situation is as bad as last summer and I don't think that Suarez would mind staying. The thing is though, I think that our owners want to sell. Not because of the incident or anything, but because they know that his price won't be higher than it is now so for them now is the time to make profit. These people are businessmen, they don't care (nor understand) that players like Suarez are irreplaceable and that we'll only go backwards no matter how much money we get. These people jizz their pants every night before sleeping on the thought of making a 300% profit on a 28 year old player. They'll invest those money back in the club, I have no doubt about that, but without a quality player like Suarez we'll never be able to win anything.

I still kind of think that the media might be misleading us a bit, but if he does leave, I just hope we won't have to bend over. Barca can either pay the fee or f*ck off.

If Luis wants to force a move and the main reason for Barca not wanting to pay the full £80M is because of the resulting ban, and the reason for the ban was due solely to Suarez's own indiscipline while he was on international duty, then we should have a right to sue Luis for gross misconduct resulting in losses to his employer. This should stop the precedent that whenever he wants to instigate a move away from his current club he bites someone and let the club push him out on a cheap.

There's a method to all his madness...genius!

He's got to go, no one player is bigger than the club, and he is costing us dear (I know, he saves us as well, and I'm not calling you dear)
The worrying thing for me is the Ballotelli talk. Van dammit one psycho for another lol

We will get by, no matter what, but not a cent under 80 million
