Nothing more than that and might not exactly suit our system, but he'll be a good alternative, the "plan B" that so many of us have been talking about. His only problem is his age, but if we can get him for anything lower than 5 million, I'd go for him.

Sky sports are saying £8m which sounds a hell of a lot for a 32 year old, I suppose though he would be an option off the bench that we'd actually use as opposed to players like Aspas, Alberto or Borini who Rodgers seems reluctant to throw on.
Another factor may be that Brendan is expecting a lot of teams to adopt Chelsea's park the bus style against us next season so he wants someone in there who can get on the end of crosses.
As for him suiting our style, he did well in a Southampton team that aren't a million miles away from us in terms of playing style so he should be okay.
One good thing about him is that he's never had any pace so his age doesn't mean much, maybe he can be our 'Sheringham'.
When Ricky got released from Liverpool (along with Kevin Nolan) as a lad I bet he didn't think he'd be returning to the club.

Well now it's 4 million, which is more than acceptable for me. However, I would prefer it more if the rumors about lowering Lallana's price are true. 25 million for both sounds like a good deal to me.

Anyway, the part that I highlighted in you post is exactly what I was thinking. We'll need a player like Lambert in those kind of games.

Yep, makes sense, pay higher for lambert and pay less for Lallana (i hope thats the case anyway)

£9m for Lambert. £16m for Lallana. £25m in total. Less money paid to Bournemouth. Everyone's happy.

Except maybe Bournmouth  :grinning:

£4m plus add ons is a no brainer for me. Decent player, homegrown and a massive Liverpool fan. He's also a massive upgrade on Aspas.

Lambert has 13 goals and 10 assists. 10 assists! He was 3rd in assists behind Gerrard and Suarez, and Southampton were pretty average when it comes to scoring. And he's13th in goals. 23 goals and assists this year is fantastic. Yes he's old, but I've got to say he could be quite a purchase for us.

Who's the middle guy that we're looking at up there? number 6?

No brainer for me. At 32 he has two years left in him. 2 mil a year is not a bad return on whet he can offer.

Lovren.

I don't think that we'll be signing all three of them (Lallana, Lambert and Lovren), but I'm pretty sure that we'll land one or two. And Shaqiri is an alternative for Lallana, it's going to be one or the other, not both. From that picture, I'd be happy with just Lallana and Can + Lambert who's not in the picture.

I think it will be Lallana OR Shaqiri too, no link to Konoplyanka which is surprising.

I think we have moved on to other players after the owner of Dnipro pulled out of the deal at the last minute. Surely we can do better with CL qualification and our league result.

Plus the scum have been heavily linked with him all week

Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, 24, who was on the verge of joining Liverpool in the summer, is now a £12m target for Manchester United.
