He's fantastic in the air, clinical in the box and a good distance shooter. Nothing more than that and might not exactly suit our system, but he'll be a good alternative, the "plan B" that so many of us have been talking about. His only problem is his age, but if we can get him for anything lower than 5 million, I'd go for him.
Sky sports are saying £8m which sounds a hell of a lot for a 32 year old, I suppose though he would be an option off the bench that we'd actually use as opposed to players like Aspas, Alberto or Borini who Rodgers seems reluctant to throw on.
Another factor may be that Brendan is expecting a lot of teams to adopt Chelsea's park the bus style against us next season so he wants someone in there who can get on the end of crosses.
As for him suiting our style, he did well in a Southampton team that aren't a million miles away from us in terms of playing style so he should be okay.
One good thing about him is that he's never had any pace so his age doesn't mean much, maybe he can be our 'Sheringham'.
When Ricky got released from Liverpool (along with Kevin Nolan) as a lad I bet he didn't think he'd be returning to the club.
Well now it's 4 million, which is more than acceptable for me. However, I would prefer it more if the rumors about lowering Lallana's price are true. 25 million for both sounds like a good deal to me.
Anyway, the part that I highlighted in you post is exactly what I was thinking. We'll need a player like Lambert in those kind of games.
