And Lucas Digne

Why would we want another Mignolet? Zieler is a good goalie but he's very similar to Mign. If we must go for another keeper, we should go for someone who has different qualities, like someone who commands his area better, who's better at communicating or distributing the ball.

Tbh, I think Reina could still do a job for us. Faster and better distribution of the ball etc, and think he still has it in him to command the area.

Agree, would sit Reina down at the end of the season and have a heart to heart with him.

Tell him that we are still willing to forgive him for his treachery by installing him as our 1st choice keeper again.

Do this ONLY if he commits his future to us (by signing another contract) and make him apologise for this farcelona nonsense.

Flog the Mig back to another club in Europe to re-coup some money and move on.

He showed interest in staying with us.. I mean he knew there was interest from Barca but wanted to stay another year. I get his feeling like Barca would be a good option considering they have been one of the best clubs in the world and he's beginning to get up there in age. I don't know why it's considered treachery when one day we just told him he was off to Italy for the year because we wanted to save on wages.

Gotta says lads don't get this growing sentiments for replacing Simone ,even more ,replacing with Reina. Yes Simone has an evident weakness which is his box control and a very small appetite for leaving his line But..He is the best ball stopper in the league if not one of the top three ,his instincts are amazing and those blunders he has from time to time ,oh well i guess other top keepers got those moments ,we are just not following them day by day.

At to Reina ,love the guy ,Super keeper ,his ball release is amazing ,but you guys have sporadic memory. I remember a lot of moments he fell asleep and conceived some ridicules goals as well ,and his box control while better then Simone was Average at best. The question is if our current young keeper is a keeper ,can he improve or can we find a much better player in the market.

BTW ,having very shaky CB's in front doesn't do well with Keeper's confidence as well.

Watched Konoplyanka v spurs today and got to say wasn't overly impressed. Got on the scoresheet (pen) and his acceleration left their defenders for dead on occasions but when he gets into good positions he seemed to be a bit hit and miss. Also heard from a very good source that he is on his way to spurs and too be honest, on that performance wouldn't be overly fussed if we missed out on him. Saying that Dnipro are only just getting ready for their season and the pitch was awful so maybe not the best game to judge him on

From the Daily Mail
City eye shock swoop for Skrtel should Liverpool miss out on Champions League

Manchester City are targeting a shock summer move for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel should the Merseysiders fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Manuel Pellegrini will be in the market for a new central-defender with Joleon Lescott almost certain to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. And Skrtel is emerging as a prime target for City in their search for Vincent Kompany’s next partner.

Skrtel has impressed for the Anfield club this season as Brendan Rodgers’ side look to secure a top-four place, and his performances have alerted City.

The Slovakian signed a contract extension in August 2012 and is said to be happy on Merseyside.

But he wants to play Champions League football and with Liverpool still on course to qualify, Skrtel remains hopeful of achieving his goal at Anfield.

However, City are ready to pounce should Rodgers’ side once again fail to make the top four.

Meanwhile, Lescott will be offered a lucrative free transfer to Turkish club Besiktas when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The former England international was a target for Aston Villa and West Ham in the January transfer window, but was initially told he could not leave.

The club, however, changed their minds late in the window after it looked like their failed move for Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala would come off - but by that time the Hammers and Villa had both switched targets.

It is understood Lescott will give serious consideration to a summer move to Turkey

If Lescott is available on a free in the summer and he'd consider a two year contract I'd take him. As good as Kolo imo and a year younger.

We could milk a lot of money out of City for Skrtel if we finish top 4. City were after him 2 years ago as well and they're in a need of a CB so it wouldn't surprise me if that rumor is true. We might be able to get some 10-15 mill out of them, which would be great for us.

As for Valdes, thanks but no thanks. He's having a good season but overall he's been a bad keeper prone to silly mistakes. He's pretty good with his feet but that's it.

I've never understood the hype around valdez. I don't think he's good enough to start over half the keepers in the PL, yet some act like he's been one of the top keepers in the world. The one position Barca could actually strengthen in with relative ease.

By the sounds of it Barcelona have cooled on the idea of signing Reina, apparently they are looking at the Broussia Monchengladbach keeper Ter Stegen.
