Michael Owen reckons his Real Madrid team-mate Fernando Morientes could be the man to solve Liverpool's striking problems.
With Djibril Cisse out for the season it is anticipated manager Rafael Benitez will swoop for a new striker during the January transfer window, with many press reports suggesting Morientes is top of his wish-list.
Benitez won't be drawn on his plans for squad strengthening, but Owen says Morientes would be a good signing if he decided to leave the Bernabeu.
"I'm sure Liverpool will go into the transfer market at Christmas," said Owen. "There's Neil Mellor in the reserves, he's useful. The manager at Liverpool seems to use Luis Garcia up front sometimes and there's Harry Kewell as well, but I think they will want to get an out and out striker.
"I know from playing alongside Morientes how good he is and I'm sure he'd do well in English football."
