the price would have to reflect the Bale transfer fee......at least £10 million more than the Real Madrid substitute maybe tempting

The difference is though Supersub, Bale isn't a nut job.... :D

Suarez is a fabulous player. But he is bonkers and will do something stupid or crazy at least once a season.

Hopefully that will be enough to put Madrid and Munich off...

And in reply to Devaney, I'd swap him for Messi... :D

In all seriousness, I'd want at least £25,000,000 and two top quality players before considering letting him leave. IE If Madrid offered Benzima and Alonso plus £25,000,000 I'd take him (providiing Alonso isn't already leaving on a freebie).

Whatever their merits I never feel certain about players that are offered in part exchange. Most aren't happy about being moved on especially if it's to a league or club that wouldn't necessarily be their first choice, and many agree to the move only because they've been told by their current club that they're expendable/not wanted, there's no guarantee that a player such as Benzima would want to stay at our club and he could be looking to move on asap. As for Alonso, mate he's 32 next month, got one maybe two top flight seasons left in him ?

Naw, if we had too sell Suarez clubs can keep their "no longer needed" players, I'd take nothing but cold hard cash starting at around 80 million

i think thats what everyone is hoping mate.
imo if we qualify for the CL there`s only 2 sides he`d leave anfield for and thats madrid and barcelona, if either of those 2 come in with a serious bid i think he`ll go, CL or no CL. there`s just something in the south american psyche about wanting to play for those clubs.
i dont think he`d leave for anyone else though (just as long as we are in the CL that is) which is something considering there`s a lot of big, wealthy, prestigious clubs out there who have made themselves fixtures in the CL.
if we dont make the top 4 then all bets are off, he`s deffo gone, the only reason we could afford to play hardball with him this summer was that he still has 3 years left on his contract, once it gets down to 2 years (and below) then his value starts to drop and thats when fsg will cash in.
all`s we can do as a club is make sure we get in the top 4 and hope for the best.

Looks likely that Uruguay will qualify for the World Cup provided they beat Jordan over two legs which looks a bit of a given if Uruguay finish fifth in their group. If Luis the has a brilliant WC his value could become a little bit crazy and I suspect Real Madrid are the only team in the world that would be prepared to pay the price.

IMO Regardless of what Suarez does no club will pay £80mil plus - the football world doesn't forget that he has been banned for a period of over 25 games in the last 3 seasons , no club will forget the negative press he has piled onto club , no club will forget how he has tried to force moves away from every club he has played at.

Around £50 mil is the price clubs pay for players like Cavani and Falcao who are at the same level as Suarez and that's the sort of fee I would expect other clubs to offer for Suarez.

Bale was a marketing dream for Madrid - that's why he went for £80mil - they will make that back within 18 months.

The difference is though Woof, Alonso would only have a couple of season's left in him, but he's a guarenteed improvement in the first 11 which would soften the blow of losing Luis. If we got £80,000,000 and it was spent on Sahko's, Borini's and Allen's... then we'd be up Sh*t creek.

And a player like Benzima for example is a class act... if that was a possibility and him and Alonso could improve the side and take us into the Champions league.... then theres every chance that he'd want to stay. I can see your point...but I don't trust Rodgers with the money....

And I believe in the point I'm making aswell... :D

Munchen may go for him aswell... although they have a financial fair play restriction so it would be a risk for them (still one I believe they would take).

according to press reports though they have lined up that lewandoski (sp?) from dortmund for next season, sounds like it`s basically a done deal, i cant see them signing both suarez and him in one window (although stranger things have happened).

Lewandoski to Bayern is a done deal - the player has already stated he will be signing a pre contract in Jan

Madrid will move for Suarez in the summer I expect - they will sell Benzema
