worst in history? you dramatic old tart.

I think you need to go easy on eds here. He has clearly said recent history. If you define recent as within the last year, he has got a good point.

Though eds, it needs to be said that none if us wished for what we've got so far...

If you define as the last two years then it's certainly debatable, Carroll, Henderson & Downing for around 75 Million takes some beating. And that season we equaled the lowest number of home league wins by a Liverpool side and the worst points haul since 3 points for a win came in. Not forgetting the LC win though.

Is Eds referring to the fact that we sold two players for a combined loss of £35m which is very conveniently being forgotten..... Anybody would think FSG are making a fortune out of LFC rather than predicetd losses over four years of over £100m.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

Kaka wud b a great signing. Play him deep n you could get 3-4 good seasons from him. Stil want eriksen. And yarmolenko looks good. Any of the 3 would be fine. Llori is to overpriced so id go for sakho. Better player anyway

OK then, lets take THIS transfer window...  (this has been done so many times already)

Toure - replacement for Carra to bring much needed experience to a dodgey back 4. cost?
Mignolet - of of the best young keepers in the league earnt us 6 points so far from 2 games.
Aspas - had a great pre season, not set the league alight yet but still plays a part in the first 11.
Alberto - promising young prospect. may not feature much this season but he has the skills.
Cissoko - on loan and unfortunate so I can't comment really

So no, I'm standing by what I said in response to eds post. He said THIS transfer window was 3 - 4 days away to being our 'worse in recent history' and it really is far from it.

these shay given rumours are beginning to escalate.

personally i really do not see the point in this at all, makes me think that rodgers decision to get rid of pepe was personal.

That's a premature conclusion to come to.

Wouldn't your first logical thought be, that:

a) Pepe was earning 100,000 a week - thus too expensive to sit on the bench at that cost?
b) Shay Given is brought in as a willing and able deputy at 'less' than half the cost?
c) Would Pepe really be willing to play second fiddle at Liverpool anyway - well, the answer there is no because he could have rejected Napoli

I don't see why you've jumped to that conclusion though.

It does seem an odd transfer considering we're in dyer need of other places, but I'd be more confident if we ever had to call upon Given rather than Jones - no disrespect to Jones either.

Hope the Given rumours are true.
We have needed a decent back up keeper for a few seasons. Jones is nowhere near good enough if Mignolet gets an injury.

Reina couldnt have sat on the bench on the wages he was on and wouldnt have wanted to in a world cup year.

Shay given wud b a quality signing.  People are saying we should be concentrating on other areas. Well we probably are it just happens to be that the given story has come out and the others are still on going. I have the utmost faith that rodgers is negotiating with a few others. So this would be an added bonus to the other transfers.

it is that we got shut of a keeper when we didnt need to and spent 9 million on a replacement. loan the original keeper out and then seek to aquire another as back up.
surely the best thing to do would have been keep reina, sign given as back up and then next year when bareclona come calling then sign mignolet. he would still have been at sunderland and if he wasnt then we could have went in for begovic. at least the money would have allowed us to sign something else.
the money spent on mingolet could have helped us get some of the targets we are now missing out on.

reina didnt have to sit on the bench, it was brendan who put him there.
if we really wanted given then bye bye brad if the finances is all we are worried about. as you said yourself he is much better.
reina wouldnt need to play second fiddle if we didnt jump the gun on mignolet and lets be real here, he wasnt given the chance to have the choice either. he was going whether he liked it or not and it wasnt down to anyone other than the manager.
if you want to think its because of his wage then belt away, mine is that the manager didnt rate him and wanted him gone so much that it was one of the first deals we did.

So, Talksport are reporting that Totsh1te sign yet another player - Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches. Think it's him anyway!!

Looks like they are going for a Galacticos style team....

It wont as they're not actually spending any money - they're only re-investing money received from player sales. (assuming bale transfer goes through)

After selling Caulker, huddlestone, dempsey and parker, they're net spend so far to date is £37m.  Add Lamela (£26m), Erickson (£10m) and Chiriches (£8.5m), then selling bale at £90m, gives them an £8m profit during the window. (their 4th profit in 5 seasons - they'd be fine financially even if they didnt make europe)

The only spanner in the works is that real pull the plug on bale, but that wont happen now. Madrid want him too much (Had they started the season on fire, then they may have thought do we actually need him? but as they've only won their two league matches by one goal, they may now be thinking they need him

that 8mil profit wont be long evaporating into the wage pool though. i think signing those players regardless of the bale money takes a bit of commitment and shows exactly what their intentions are.
it remains to be seen if they will be sustainable over the next 3 or 4 years with that wage bill.
if madrid pull the plug another suitor wont be long showing their cards

Of all the players we need right now - bottom of the priority list is a GK. Really don't understand our transfer strategy this summer.
