i didnt say you did either, i said if you want to think that then go ahead. you did refer to his wage along with saving half that on given. i never referred to wages.
again though the showing his knickers to barca year in year out is hardly accurate. like a lot on here i spend a lot of time reading this forum and endless articles about the players and club and from memory there has only been one incident where his father was banging on and then pepe said he would not rule out a return to barca some day. hardly pimping himself out now was he.
what do you think sturridge is going to say when asked on whether he would like to return to chelsea someday ? that will happen soon seen as mourinho is allegedly disgusted he was allowed to leave and it will be fired at danny in his next interview or when we face them.
last year rodgers dropped reina after a small injury and he remained out of the side for a run of games despite his agent saying the player was fit and ready for selection, rodgers maintained he was still injured. he also said he was signing mignolet as competition which also turned out not to be true. reina never even got to join up with the squad this season and was told he could go on loan. it wasnt a position that needed to be urgently addressed either. these are my reasons for thinking it was personal between him and rodgers, maybe it was down to a clash of personalities or he just didnt like the influence he had in the dressing room but it wasnt for the reasons he stated.
ive said it before that if he just rated him better then thats fine but it does not coincide with the versions he tells us. any manager that has a limited budget like he has wouldnt replace a position just for the sake of it, and if he did it would be with the money raised from the sale.

Reina stated that if Barca came in he wanted to go so we did the right thing acting quickly.
I think we have a better keeper now, or should i say a keeper that will help us pick up more points. He saves shots, Reina didnt save many.

Given as an understudy is perfect for me. Good move if it comes off.

I am sure we are doing stuff in the background to bring in defenders and an attacking player as well.

Pretty much spot on my thinking - Valdes at Barce had already stated he wasn't leaving so Barce werent going to be bidding for Pepe yet they still went for Mignolet. BR clearly wanted a new GK and clearly wanted Pepe to leave.

Let's face it mate, as good as Reina was for us, he was way out of form for the past 2 seasons, he was on high wages and you might not believe it but it's clear to me that he was keen on joining Barcelona too (he admitted so in his letter, among everything else). It is obvious that Rodgers didn't rate him but I don't think we would have replaced him if he didn't do what he did. He practically forced our hand to get rid of him. Once Mignolet was here, there was no room for Reina unfortunately.

So far, it looks like we've made the right decision. Mignolet has already saved us from losing 4 points in 2 games. How many points did Reina saved us from losing last season? I can tell you how many he costed us.

Two seasons ago only 2 GK's conceded less that Pepe and last season Pepe was behind a back four that struggled so whilst he did make some errors last season he was nowhere near as bad as what is suggested. As for the club acting to pre empt him wanting to leave - why didnt they do the same with Suarez who has stated all summer that he wants to leave.

What is it exactly that Pepe did ? Suggest that he would like to leave to Barce "IF" they bid - but they werent as soon as Valdes said he was staying yet the club still went ahead and got Mignolet. BR was buying a GK this summer regardless of what Pepe said.

im not doubting mignolet at all damjan, or even doubting given wouldnt be a good back up either.
my opinion was that it was personal with rodgers and i have stated my reasons as to why i think that. he had 3 years left on his contract just like suarez who has also forced the clubs hand in a most despicable way. he invited marca to his house in liverpool and told them about his desire to play for madrid this season.
why isnt rodgers so desperate to get rid of him then, he is on a big wage too and is pretty much sitting on the bench which is of his own doing also.
my last few posts had nothing to do with mignolet versus reina and i dont see the point either in debating player stats when one has played close to 300 games for us while the other has 3.

I do actually like Reina and I am not slagging him off I am stating my opinion that he wasnt great the last couple of seasons.
Despite the videos you showed I dont remember one game I came away from where I thought to myself 'thank god for Pepe there, he's saved us points'
Mignolet has already done that twice and is clearly for me a better shot stopper.
I think we have upgraded definitely.
