Understand #afc did not make offer for Higuain. Agreed personal terms but put deal on hold to prioritise Suarez, Napoli pounced #bbcfootball

Great from Henry to come out and say that, especially the part where he says he won't place a complaint against Arsenal even if they got confidential information from his contract, pretty cheeky of him.

Yes and by that logic it would be more than pointless signing anyone in Jan.
All`s well that ends well. That`s that sorted, if he wants a move next season he`ll just have to play his way into one but of course next season we will be in the CL so no need. Would still like to see a couple signings though.

Credit to Rodgers and Henry for once.

They have played this one brillantly. I love the comments that he spoke to the owners at Arsenal and told them personally he wasn't for sale.

Would have loved to see Suarez's face when Henry would have done a Keyser Soze on him during the two hour meeting.

I can imagine Henry coming in on a wheelchair and looking all frail and s**t, nervously speaking in Spanish to him. As the meeting progressed the stuttering stopped, the frailities evaporated and the language changed from Spanish to English and it started to dawn on Suarez (ala Chazz Palminteri) that Liverpool and Henry held ALL THE F**KING CARDS ALL ALONG. In the end he had nothing left but to apologise.

F**king love it.   :buttrock  :buttrock  :buttrock

We've all been on this merrygoround before haven't we, in some walk of life, making bad decisions, and pretending it was deliberate. When the time comes to make a choice: hold up your hands, or dig deeper, how many have kept digging? I have. Eventually you hit rock bottom, and sooner or later you need to swallow your pride and ask your friends to help you back up. We've dealt with worse than this before. When Suarez decides to eat humble pie, which he will, and proves he's back and lucky to get another shot with this great club, then we should reap the benifits of that. If he chooses to play in the reserves until January, I'll be suprised.

in 87 we were in talks with john barnes practically the whole summer and even pulled out of the deal at one point, some deals can take a very long time

Best wrap the deals up soon - 8 days until the season starts

yeah, ideally you`d want any new signings in before the season starts but the window is open until the beginning of september, it`s not the end of the world if they miss the first few weeks of the season, the season doesnt end until next summer and this one isnt over yet, there`s plenty of time for them to make an impact.

After the start we had last season and the fixtures we have this season it's vital if we want to even have a sniff at top 4 we need a great start and to have everything in place for the first game of the season - there is still the gaps and the problems from last season and we play the team that will take advantage of those problem areas - Stoke. The speech from Henry doesn't change our squad/first team still being weaker than 5 other teams in the prem and Suarez staying doesnt change that. We need quality into the team to get CL. And this Suarez situation isn't ended yet - still plenty of time left yet for some more twists.

At last, common sense prevails. Delighted that John Henry has put the blocks on any possible transfer to Arsenal. Would have been madness to do an Arsenal and sell our best player to one of our biggest rivals. I hope Suarez now sees sense and knuckles down for the season ahead. Or if he were to go, it's to a different league. Although, I hope it doesn't come to that.

BTW, if Suarez is still with us, what's his first match when he comes back from his suspension?

Arsenal haven't signed anybody, but haven't lost anybody either.  They are the club who seem to lose at least one big player every season.  Fabregas, Nasri, RVP and Song. They keep losing their best player every season.  It's very hard for a club to move on from that, so it's no wonder they've been stuck.  If they manage to add a goal scoring striker, I'm definitely tipping them as a dark horse.  Not to win league, but to finish higher than many think.

Well done Mr Henry and if anything good comes out of this sorry mess is the fact that Liverpool arent going to be pushover we have been in recent years with transfer dealings.

On the contrary, I think Spurs if anyone will knock them out for 4th, they've been knocking on the door and "ambitious" Arsenal will fall by the wayside IMO. I'd like to think we'll be challenging them too, we have to keep up with Spurs and Arsenal right to the end. We started last season badly, 2pts (IIRC) from 15 - rectify that and IMO Rodgers has bolstered the squad as we were playing with kids last year during this period and we could surprise a few too IMO.
