Sorry just a quick add...do you think it's worth taking a £5M or more hit just to ensure he don't fall into the hands of our closest rival?

Definetly. I'd offer him to foreign clubs just to end this drama. There is no point in holding on to players that dont want to be here.

Where did you get the bit about him refusing to play before you disappear ? Not seen that anywhere but here

I read he refused to play the last two games, I've no idea where that was said tho

Ok cheers - but didnt he actually play in one ?

Carra has said you can tell the clear difference with Suarez at training - just doesn't want to be there

the mirror reported that the other day and it was referring to the last 2 of our preseason games, ie: valerenga and celtic.

Anyone else still wants to argue he isn't toxic to our team?

Luis is a disgraceful FCK.Why so many fans stood behind him is ridiculous.

Cheers Red - heard it mentioned a few times and not seen it.

Carra on his new fancy show with Neville dismissed it but has said it's going to be very hard for Suarez to play for us again - another statement like a transfer request would be the final nail. Pretty good programme with him and Neville - you can tell they both have a lot of game knowledge and going to provide great insight.

It was hard to disagree with much of what he was saying ( some shouldn't watch it though )

One stat they did show when comparing the three transfer stars was points won by them

Bale - 24
Rooney - 15
Suarez - 11

Last the points that would have been lost if those players didnt play

Stats like that are a bit of a joke.

It was taking away the goals they scored when the goals won them the points - Carra was highlighting how much a miss Bale would be to Spurs compared to Suarez leaving us

Suarez needs to go however on our terms. We shouldn't and won't be forced into just accepting any old bid for him just to get rid. If he ends up staying, I can actually see him just getting on with it once the the window shuts. It's just so disappointing the way his gone about it. We have had our reputation take a hit due to his actions but everyone has still stood by him. I just keep thinking back to when Kenny was get vilified by the media for defending Suarez and really angers me that a legend had to suffer that only for Suarez to throw a moody. If he really wants to move, fine, however he needed to keep quiet and get on with it and if an offer that was acceptable to us came in, fair enough he can go. But by all accounts seems as though his causing a real stink around the place

Seen that stat before - also backing that up, our win percentage without Suarez is better than percentage with him.

Opta says: Without Luis Suarez's goals this season, Liverpool would still have finished seventh in the Premier League table.

Tomkins says: Stats that compare the results of games players miss with those they play are always potentially misleading. All manner of factors are at play, and you may mistake  coincidences for facts.

However, a 39% win rate when Suarez plays in the Premier League, compared with 62% when absent, suggests that Liverpool are the opposite of “reliant” on him. To put it into context, 39% is roughly Everton’s level, 62% is Manchester City’s.

Even allowing for the fact that Suarez may have missed easier games than he’s played, and he’s played a lot more than he’s missed, you’d expect to see some positive reinforcement of his importance in the stats; not the exact opposite.

We still would have finished in the same place in the table but would have been 13 points behind the BS.

It's the same as the time when Gerrard was injured and we actually won more games without him than we did when he played.

When Suarez was out banned Sturridge flourished in the middle with Downing and Coutinho supporting him. With Suarez playing there is a bit of a dilemma of where to play them in that front 3, with one of them having to drop wide a lot. At times it looked clumsy

It would make no business sense to sell Suarez to Arsenal. Brendan already has a team in mind for the start of the season, which Suarez will not be a part of. Losing him from the teams point of view would not be a great loss at first, the problem is making our top four opposition stronger. If we were to qualify to the Champions League, just by being in group stages, the club could earn close to the 40 million Arsenal are offering (between prize money, TV rights, publicity, etc.) not to mention attract better players to the team. We can't afford to keep missing out. Selling him to Arsenal would definately make that harder to achieve.

If he's going to keep on whining that he wants to play in the CL, the club should offer him to Real Madrid on a 6 month loan with a buy out clause should they want to keep him. That, or keep him until January when one of the big money clubs will be looking for a non cup tied striker and probably pay over the odds for him. Suarez does not have the upper hand in this case, the world cup is right around the corner, he can't afford to not be playing (getting himself banned if he gets back in the team or training by himself). The owners have to do what is best for the club, and selling one of our best players to our direct rivals is not it.

I don't think any loan deal works best for us - its just giving the player away without funds to get a replacement. And regardless of what happens this season even if he doesn't play one top flight game Uruguay will still pick him and he will still go to the World Cup

Last time I checked, Uruguay was almost out of the world cup so they can't afford to have an out of pace/shape player in their squad right now if they want to qualify. Short term, we could do without a replacement since for the start of the season we have to do without him. If we want the right replacement we need to get the most money possible out of his sale, even if it has to be in january.
