Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

Well the next few days should be interesting. I fear he's going to say Arsenal but I hope I'm wrong. I can't see us selling to them but if this £40m clause is a release clause then he'd be free to go. That said I can't see Wenger signing a cheque for £40m, that would kill him inside. The rumoured Madrid offer is a lot more tempting than watching him in a rival's shirt. Do the decent thing Luis and stay on and shut the fook up

I fully understand his desire to play at Madrid, and getting Higuain and £20 million would be a really good deal.  This nonsense about Arsenal worries me tho, and if he does try to push through a move to Arsenal, there will be no forgiving that.

To get Higuain to agree to be part of any deal would require us to offer big wages - can anyone see the Owners doing that ? And I'm talking wages above Gerrard - closer to 180 grand a week

the fact that luis has joined up with the squad is a promising sign.
he seems quite pally with lucas and coutinho and one or two others so you never know, once he`s back in the day to day routine of things he may think to himself `meh, it`s not that bad here, maybe i`ll stick around for another season and see what happens`.
a couple of first XI type signings may help convince him that we are still an ambitious club

I wouldn't want us to sell suarez for 40 million to a rival PL club... but if Arsenal forks out the 50 million asking price... that's a bit of a dilemma there...

£20M + Higuan = yes please. Great deal for us. Higuan is the kind of player who would fit in perfect to the Brendan Rodgers way of playing.  :buttrock

I doubt higuain would come here especially after he's rumoured to have agreed terms with arsenal a few weeks back. I couldnt see them paying him close to 180 grand a week either.
That deal would be worth £50mil to us but i doubt we would be interested and would favour £40 straight cash. They sold torres to chelsea so ive no doubt they will sell suarez to arsenal if the price is right  :nod
now that he has joined up with the squad hopefully we can show some ambition in the market and maybe convince suarez his future is still with us.

Would be unbearable for me for him going to one of our rivals regardless of whether its 40 or 50 million.

Rather get less and send him overseas if he is that keen to go .

Though what would be funny if he did go to the Gunners who then get knocked out of CL early and then finish below this season and dont qualify.

Wonder what would he would do then :D

The Arsenal talk has certainly picked up since yesterday. Napoli seem to have agreed a fee with Madrid for Higuain so I expect this Suarez Arsenal stuff to be resolved soon. If we refuse to sell then I think Arsenal will match Napoli's bid

Is anyone else getting to the point where they aren't really bothered if Suarez stays or goes?  It's getting boring now.

Agree - just get it sorted as soon as possible and use the money to build the squad - plus the money we should have left to spend - that could be around 60-70mil which could get us 3/4 top quality players

your assuming, sorry, hoping he gets sold there. what if he stays? you'd obviously be crying in your cornflakes. You instantly stated 'get it sorted and spend the money...'. your not entertaining him staying.   hows about 'get it sorted and lets get him back into the team to push for 4th place next season' ?    oh no, that doesn't suit the agenda.

Yes would rather him sold now - bridges well and truly burned by his actions this summer.
